I'd refer Lemony Snicket. He is the author of the Series of Unfortunate Events. He has 10 books already out! Even an unAuthorized Autobiography!Hey....this site is about him isnt it Think about it. If this is indeed a site about him, I believe we can assume everyone here has read the books.

I recommend Michael Ende. He has written the Neverending Story, Momo, and The Night of Wishes.
Momo is about grey men who steal people's time. Momo, the protagonist, must save her community from these time thieves.
The Night of Wishes is about an evil witch and wizard who have not fulfilled their contract with the devil and must save themselves from destruction. Some of the rhymes in this book read better in German than in English.
In fact I read all these books in German before I read them in English. They are rather hard to find in English (exception Neverending Story) but I think searching is worth it.

Crispin: The Cross of Lead by Avi is a very good read. For kids from 10-14. It's one of the best books I ever read. It's pretty easy to get into, except once every page there might be a word that might stump you, depending how "word-laden" you are. The Giver by Lois Lowry is fantastic, for kids and young adults. It's not the best books I've ever read, but it's vocabulary is pretty simple, and it's fairly simple to get into, except at the beginning you got to adjust yourself. One of the Princess Diaries has a fantastic start, except my mom would probably not let me buy it.
The Guide to the Hitchgrakers Galaxy or whatever, I apoligize for not being able to spell to that, has an ironically robotic tone to it, and I don't know if I'd be able to drive through it. Artemis Fowl is probably the worst book I ever started reading, and it just doesn't make sense. Who cares about reading about butlers anyway? The Golden Compass is plain boring, and so is Redwall. Whatever has happened to Janie is the book that I'm reading now by Caroline Cooney, it has a fantastic start, and I'm planning to proceed on it.
Oh, and Anne of Green Gables has a good start but it's fancy-schwancy near the end. So do any of the other books. Emily's Quest is not bad though.

I recommend "Pure Dead Magic" and "Pure Dead Wicked" . They are strange stories that remind me of ASOUE.

He must be misinformed. The official site doesn't say anything about, and neither does Amazon.com.

I reccomend:
The Lord of the Flies Mates, Mysteries and pretty weird weird stuff Anything from ASoUE (duh) Vicky Angel The Thief Lord The Witch Hunt Witch Child The Movie Book Chosen (from the buffy series) The Raging Quiet The History of Stanley (Really only for people who live in Stanley)
I'm a big reader, I'm not going though all of them, because the list'd be too big.

good books? I like Gary Blackwood. He wrote 3 books so far in a series called "The Shakespeare Stealer." Its about a kid who is an actor in England who is in Shakespeare's acting troupe. Very funny and interesting

There really is a fourth Artemis coming out I was watching X Change the other day to see one of the acts on, and they had an interview with the author, who said he was writing a fourth Artemis, but that there would be a different book out before that
