Has anyone else seen these abominations?
No matter how good the books may be, when you see the covers you'll be shocked.
A review I found:
The style of the books are eerily similar to that of Lemony Snicket-- there are three siblings who find themselves in some sort of trouble or danger in each book, a letter from the author, and a snippet on the back of each book with reasons why you shouldn't read the story.
Card catalog description When the Grace children go to stay at their Great Aunt Lucinda's worn Victorian house, they discover a field guide to fairies and other creatures and begin to have some unusual experiences.
Book Description
Go away
close the book
put it down
do not look
Sound familiar?
Has anyone read these?

I even did a search regarding these crap books. I couldn't believe no one had brought them up.

I read the first book in half an hour; that's how crap they are. The pictures take up most of the pages, and even then the text isn't something to get excited about. It's a blatant rip-off of ASOUE, from the warning on the cover to the letter from the authors to the way they supposedly received the story. The cover suggests it's from the past, from the early 1900's perhaps, which would actually make it more believable (read: interesting) what with the whole faery thing. But no.
The whole above paragraph (and the books) could be summed up in one word: Blah.

I would seriously love to know who actually payed $10.99 for those books. In a way, I'm surprised Handler hasn't sued for plagerism.

I read the first one when I was waiting in the car for hours cause my bro had a tornamont and it was cold so I stayed in the car.
It took up twenty minutes of the four hours.
