I know this book has been mentioned before, but I thought I'd re-suggest it to you guys. It's definitely something fans of ASOUE will appreciate. I have the UK version, and the back even has a recommendation from our favorite recluse: "This book tells a fascinating and disturbing story that frightened me nearly to death." - Lemony Snicket For those of you who haven't heard of it, here's the blurb on the back cover: Coraline is not the kind of girl to be put off by a sign of danger read in some tea leaves or indeed a message sent to her by some very talented mice! No, she is the kind of girl who faces a challenge with bravery, intelligence and a lot of determination. Which is just as well because she is going to need all those skills, and more, in this wonderful, spooky tale of a girl caught on the wrong side of a door, with counterfeit parents who have buttons for eyes and who clearly do not intend to set her free. Read it if you dare!

I love that book. "I'll let you sew buttons into my eyes" is a wonderful phrase. It's one of my favorites.
Also, the Gothic Archies did the music for the audiotape! Hooray.

That was an awesome book. Neil Gaiman is a great author. The book was like Alice in Wonderland, but angstier, and with more of a plot.

I saw it in a bookstore and almost bought it. Almost. I should. I was intrigued by the gothic illustration style and remembered someone recommending Neil Gaiman to me... it's not too expensive, is it? I'll try to pick it up next time I'm in McNally Robinson.

I don't think it's too expensive... if it is, just get it from a library (that's how I read it).

Sounds like a good plan. It's just a smallish kids novel, right? Souldn't be too expensive.

Yeah, it's a kid's novel. Should be no more than ASOUE, if it's even that much. Also, I think it's out in paperback, so if you're not one of those people who are picky about what they have, you can save a few more dollars by getting that edition rather than hardcover.
