Finished Annihilation which I really liked. Was surprised because I loved the movie so much I thought I'd be distracted by the differences. But nope. Just a different experience. Which I maybe liked more than the movie in some ways?
Started the second book in the series but quickly stopping I think. The differences are too distracting now lol

I finished reading "Arsene Lupine and the Crystal Cork." What a magnificent book! Full of adventure, interesting moral questions, all very gray. And ambiance in my mind couldn't be better. As an asoue fan, I can imagine an anachronistic world as I read the story, which is set, I believe, in the 1920s. (Oh, about 100 years ago!!) There were already cars, telephones out there, and so when those words are said, a relatively modern world comes to mind. And at the same time, the real setting is in the 20s. So, it's all anachronistic as if I'm reading something from the universe of asoue. And like robberies, exaggerated death sentences, escape plans, impossible disguises and a constant feeling that everything is going to go wrong is always present... that for me was very asoue. I recommend it to all of you. Even those who have never read anything by Arsene Lupine... You just need to know that he is known as a magnificent thief. The narrator who is a character that doesn't appear in the main story... I really want you to read it.
I wonder what a crossover between Arsene Lupine and Esmé Squolor would be like, given that they would be rivals in the story. It would be insane. I will also now begin The Confessions of Arsene Lupin.

Poison for Breakfast! Loving it so far
and I even ordered some new books (Unauthorized Bio, Beatrice Letters, Coraline & Charlie and the Glass Elevator). It's funny because I still have some books waiting on my shelf (The Satanic Bible, Sylvanas and The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes). What can I say? I can't stop purchasing books.

same i am a new book hoarder but seldom a new book reader...
that being said Ballad is really good and shows a lot of cognitive dissonance between the posh, rigid main character and his interaction with romani / nomad values.
