This is a fic based on the movie Red Eye. So, if you've seen that, you can probably tell more or less what will happen in this. If you haven't, there may be mild spoilers for the movie, but I don't think there's too much that'd ruin it (it's not like the commercials are very subtle about what happens).
Before I start, I want to explain that the way the forum is set up in this, it that it's basically a small town combined with a large apartment building area. All the buildings are the large topics (i.e. an Archives building), and the apartments within the buildings represent individual threads.
The first chapter may not be very interesting, as it's all character introduction and development, but it should get better in the second chapter. Now, on with the story.

Celinra checked her watch yet again. It was out of habit more than anything. She knew she hadn't missed the bus, and that it arrived about five or 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Despite this knowledge, though, she couldn't help but check her watch and reassure herself.
Suddenly, she heard a very computerized version of “Behind Blue Eyes” playing. After a moment, she realized it was her cell phone ringing. She quickly answered. “Hello?”
“Hi Celly!”
“Panny!” she answered. “How is everything? Is there a problem? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, everything’s fine,” she quickly reassured Celinra, laughing a little. “I just wanted to call and let you know that everything this morning went according to plan.”
Celinra breathed a sigh of relief. “Good, glad to hear it.”
“Yep. Thanks to your help, this campaign will be a success!”
They bid each other farewell, and Celinra hung up. She had barely closed her phone when the ringer started up again. “Hello?” she answered, experiencing a moment of déjà vu.
“Oi!” exclaimed the voice from the other end.
“Hey Derik!” she said. “Are we still having the Beatles movie marathon tonight?”
“Yup,” her younger brother said, “gettin’ ready now.”
“Are you okay? You seem kinda upset.”
“It’s just, I can’t find Colin Towel!” he said. “I looked all over…”
“He’s probably just misplaced somewhere. If you haven’t found him by the time I get home, I’ll help you look, okay?”
“Koay,” he replied, brightening a little.
Celinra said goodbye, and hung up, wondering what to do until the bus arrived. To occupy the time, she looked around to see who else was waiting with her. She saw one girl with a dog, although it was very similar to a coyote. She watched as a boy fought an invisible enemy with a lightsaber spoon, which she heard him refer to as Dave. There were a couple school girls, chatting and giggling. Nearby, there was one boy complaining about the lateness of the bus to a woman, who started reminiscing about past bus experiences. Sitting on the ground was a man who appeared half asleep, with a beer bottle grasped tightly in one hand. Last, there was a Talkative Person, one who seems to talk at length, about any subject, to anyone who will listen. Currently, he was introducing himself to everyone.
"Hi," he said, extending a hand. "I'm James Barr."
"'Barr'..." responded the woman. "What nationality is that?"
He shrugged. "It was changed from 'Berry.'"
"'Strawberry'?" the boy with the spoon said jokingly.
"That's why it was changed. Too many people made jokes like that."
"That wasn't very nice of them," Celinra muttered.
"That's what I told them," he agreed. "...before I killed them." Everyone laughed, but James' serious expression never changed.
Celinra glanced at her watch, then decided to walk to the corner to get a drink from a hot dog vendor. “Aren’t you afraid of missing the bus?” someone called. “It’s late as it is, it could get here any time now!”
She shrugged. “This is normal for the bus, I have a minute or two.”
James caught up to her. “Where are you going to?” he asked, as they continued walking.
“Dark Avenue,” she replied.
“Oh, that’s my stop, too,” he responded. “Mind letting me know where it is? I’m not familiar with the bus system.” Celinra shrugged, and started to order her drink, but James stopped her. “Can I try to guess?”
“If you get it wrong, then, you pay.”
“Alright… you don’t seem to be a fruit-type person, so no orange or grape… root beer doesn’t seem to fit you. Really, it comes down to a battle of the brands.” He contemplated for a moment, before stating, “Coca-cola.”
Celinra looked at James for a moment, before turning to the vendor, saying, “Could I please have a Pepsi?” He handed her the drink, and James handed him the money. “You were close, though.” She took a sip and winced.
“Are you okay?” he asked, as they turned back towards the bus. “Sure you wouldn’t prefer a coke?”
“Yeah, it’s just… I haven’t had pop in a few days, so it tastes a bit off, but that’s all.” They reached the stop, just as the bus finally pulled up. Celinra relaxed a bit; until she was on the bus, she was always nervous that she had somehow missed it, no matter how early she had arrived to wait for it. Now that she could be certain that she caught it, she was able to calm down. Little did she know, that feeling would not last long.
