Direct quote from Patricia McCormick's "Cut" (PUSH printing, paperback edition, 2000, pg. 77)-
"I think you've come with a way (I.E. cutting) to deal with feelings that you find overwhelming. Overwhelmingly bad, overwhelmingly frigtening."
This was a reason the author gave for why children cut themselves. To deal with overwhelming feelings.
Agree or Disagree?

She missed a few reasons there, like if they're sick or doing it for +favs on Deviantart.
But yeah I agree with that pretty much.

She also mentions people like to keep cutting because it's an endorphin rush.

That's a good explanation, but maybe not the only one. I think that some people cut themselves because they think they deserve the pain for whatever they did to anger some hot-tempered authority figure who may have more problems than them.

They forget attention and pity.

That book is nice, but that's not the only reason. If there weren't books like that, maybe people who cut wouldn't have heard of it.

So taking away literature because it discusses that idea in depth promotes that idea? It's possible, but if you restrict books that give people any ideas at all, your library will end up like the one in V.F.D. She missed a few reasons there, like if they're sick or doing it for +favs on Deviantart. What she said (also see Tocuna's reply). I think that basically covers it... but it's kind of vague, isn't it? I mean, overwhelming emotions can be anything, can't they? "I want to be a goth so bad! The feeling is so overwhelming that I am going to cut myself!" "I feel really overwhelmingly alone and afraid, I think I'll cut!" "I am so overwhelmingly misunderstood and worthless that I will cut myself!" OR, THE EVER POPULAR: "I am so overwhelmingly happy that I will cut myself!" See... it's so vague it makes sense in every situation!

You lie. You have nothing but a terribly-yellow spongebob t-shirt. What's wrong with my terribly-yellow spongebob t-shirt? I also have others that say: "If you are reading this you are smarter than what I thought" "I <3 *maple leaf* GIRLS" "Kiss me I am Mexican" ...and... "By the time you are done reading this you will be staring at my crotch"

"By the time you are done reading this you will be staring at my crotch" Off topic, Serg. And, nothing is wrong with your yellow Sponge-Bob shirt. BTW, on the subject of yellow, I couldn't find my mom's yellow chunri (long scarf), the plain one, so I had to use her marriage yellow one with all the sequins today. And, while it was really shiny, it was really pretty. I'll take a pic and post it here someday. But, back to the subject of cutting, as Serg's yellow Sponge-Bob shirt isn't that disturbing and not too worthy of dicussion............
