Two issues--putting shelter dogs to sleep when you can't fidn a home, or putting an animal in suffering to sleep. When are you for which, if not always or at all?
C: I bet this is going to turn into a debate about euthanasia, then abortion, or just skip to abortion, and then to God.

I don't like putting innocent animals to sleep out of no fault of their own. I used to cry about it when I was younger because I imagined cute little puppies being put to sleep when there wasn't enough room for them in pounds. I like no kill shelters but I know that if they get to full then they send the dogs off to shelters that will kill them. I like how people call it putting to sleep because it sounds humane. It's not but as long as it sounds that way.

I got my doggie at a no kill shelter.
When I was 5 or 6 my old dog Coco was put to sleep because her pelvis were completely crushed when she was hit by a motorcycle.
When I was either 8, 9, or 10 (3rd grade, I don't remember how old oyu're supposed ot be for 3rd grade) my mom's cat was put to sleep because she was 18 I think and she had kidney failure and she was dying and was in a lot of pain and stuff.
Before I was born my mom's cat was put to sleep beacuse he had cat leukemia or something and she was dying and couldn't do anything.

My aunts dog was put to sleep because she was a million years old and couldn't see and hear and things like that. My friends neighbor put her dog to sleep because she had a tumor and she didn't want to pay for it to be fixed.

My friends neighbor put her dog to sleep because she had a tumor and she didn't want to pay for it to be fixed. That's pretty harsh. I mean, if you own a pet, you have the reoposiblity of caring for it when's it's sick and not just abondoning it. Imagine if your parents killed you because they didn't want to pay for the treatment. I just realized that is seems that putting the animal to sleep is cruel, but if she paied an unnecessary sum of money to save the dog, she would have appealed to the public as a nincom poop (I didn't know what other word to use!). You can't please everyone.

M: Either is acceptable to me, putting dogs (animals--there are cats in shelters, too) to sleep when they can't find a decent home. Endy: I know that I'd rather be dead than living in a tiny cage, or worse--being abused by a less-than-caring owner. M: Or when they're suffering. Endy: My hamster had heart failure, four years ago, and we put...uh...oh, right...Nalie to sleep. And my mum's cat Ursula when she had liver failure and was 16. And my grandmum's cat, Maggie, last week, because she had heart failure. And my mum's dog Neffertiti before I was born because...well, I don't remember. They would've died anyway, and they suffered less this way.

I remember when i was younger i thought put to sleep meant the animals actually wnet to sleep forever but didn't die. Then i found out when i was 10 and then i cried. I'm such an animal lover. But when an animal is suffering, then it should be put to sleep. suffering just isn't worth ethics.

I also think that animals that are sick, injured or severely disabled, and in pain, should be put to sleep. However, stray cats and dogs should go to humane animal shelters where they can hopefully find good homes. My cats came from a shelter; I think they were the offspring of a homeless cat. I'm also in favor of neutering pets(both my cats are spayed) to decrease the population of strays.

Though she did give Megan some treats for her dog because her dog wouldn't eat them.. this was before she killed it. I don't know if the dog is aware there are worse places to be, I just think animals should get some chance with a family.

C: I bet this is going to turn into a debate about euthanasia, then abortion, or just skip to abortion, and then to God. I completely disagree with putting healthy animals to sleep, because they couldn't find a home... But, an animal in suffering should be put to sleep. *discusses God*

You can't please everyone. My friend's dog had cancer, and they paid for its treatment. But she was getting so old and sick. When I had to watch the dog, she couldn't even eat. They had to put her down, which I feel was the most humane choice. I also saw a documentary on animal shelters, and the animals really don't like it there...or...they epress as much emotion and opinion as an animal can. C: Don't worry, Fluffy is out of a cramp cage and in the big, open farm in the sky...

C: I bet this is going to turn into a debate about euthanasia, then abortion, or just skip to abortion, and then to God. yea, it'll probably go straight to religion... anywhos: i think both are ok. i'd rather an animal be 'put to sleep' than wander the roads homeless and alone forever, and i'd rather animals be put out of their suffering and misery. you know, i think more people should buy homeless animals from shelters. i feel so sorry for them. people seem to have this idea that animals from shelters are vicious and diseased or something, but really, most are abandoned, ran away, or were even abused.
