Phobia is a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that results in a compelling desire to avoid it I suffer from claustrophobia a fear of small spaces, and aphenphosmphobia which is a fear of being touched (but mostly by people i dont really know or am not acquainted with), and arachnophobia, a fear of spiders. Does anyone else have a phobia that is rare, or just interesting? If you have a particular fear of something, go to this website ******** www.phobialist.com/******** to amaturly diagnose your phobia

I do everything I can to avoid calling people on the phone. I'm getting better, though, so I dunno if it counts...

I have acrophobia, fear of high places. Unless it's, like, completely closed in, like a window on a higher floor in a building, I can't stand heights at all. Even those that aren't really that high... I can barely stand on a chair for fear of falling off because it's "so high up."
That's really my only irrational fear. I'm afraid of being caught in a fire, but I'm not afraid of fire in general. I don't like calling people on the phone, but I'm not afraid of it. I fear driving, but that's rational because I crashed into a tree my first time driving.

I don't have an actual phobia, because that's when you're like extremely afraid of something, but cockroaches and spiders really, really scare me. it's actually getting worse. I get this chill all up my body when i see one and actually wont sleep or sit or stand in a room unless i know it's definitely dead or gone away somewhere else. but i don't call it a phobia because, if no one else is around, i do have enough nerve to kill it myself, but that's like my last resort. lol.

I can't believe it, I forgot my biggest fear.
I call it hydro-orbus-phobia, but that's not really a proper translation of "orbus," and it's lating anyways, instead of greek.
Fear of Water Balloons.
A few years ago, I got hit in the face with one (and it was from a slingshot, so it reallly hurt). Since then, I can't stand them. I can scarcely bear to look at them. If any are thrown at me, I break down crying. Last summer I was counseling at kid's camp, and someone mentioned one of the boys cabins was coming with water balloons... I practically ran back to the cabin, sat down on my bed, and did one of those legs-pulled-to-chest-and-arms-around-legs things. I learned that the boys were only after one cabin, which wasn't mine, but still... it was NOT FUN.

I have claustrophobia, slightly, and a fear of crowds(ochlophobia or demophobia). When I was younger I had a fear of dogs, but less so now. I also fear public speaking, somewhat; this is a fairly recent affliction of mine.

Telephoning people, even if I know them, is always really awkward for me. Once I had a really bad experience when I was about 12 and had to call back some guy about soccer tryouts. When he answered he was really drunk and I was really confused and I had to try and convince him that he was supposed to know what I was calling about. Nothing weird's happened since then, so I'm okay. I just tell myself that it really doesn't get much worse than that, then I pick up the phone and just dial. When I was young, I was really afraid of men with facial hair. Does that count? Fear of heights, but that's getting better. Yeah... I think that's all. If I find anymore, I let you all know. But I don't hope to or anything.

M: I completely forgot about my xenphobia. I can NOT interact with strangers. I swear...when I'm walking home and have to cross streets, if there's a car there, I turn around and pick at my pocketbook so I don't have to look at them.

When I was young, I was really afraid of men with facial hair. Does that count? Pogonophobia: the fear of beards And, because it's fun to say: Archibutyrophobia: the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth And because it's amusing/ironic: Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia or Sesquipedalophobia: the fear of long words
