The Harry Potter series ended in July, and there's still lots of news, movies, and active forums for it. 667 is one of the few still-active ASOUe forums, and we're not sure if Handler's movie scripts are getting filmed. They are about the same length (ASOUe has more books, but HP books are bigger), and they're both unique (ASOUe maybe slightly more unique than the magical theme?). I like the HP books, but just wondering if anyone agrees that ASOUE doesn't get that much...whatever you want to call it (attention, isn't qual, etc).
P.S. I broke the 667 topic concidence!

Hm. Well just by luck or public mood or whatever these things just tend to happen and good books don't necessariliy get all the attention they deserve or vice versa.
For me, at least, I always would get much more excited about Harry Potter than asoue, through no fault of Handler's. I just think that Harry Potter's whole world of magic and history and the things that go along with it intrigued me more than Handler's ordinary, yet secret-riddled one. They both have their strong points and I love them both to death, but with Harry Potter I could be reasonably sure that after reading a book I'd come away with a huge chunk of action and backstory whereas in asoue I would always just end up with more questions and a spot of confusion.
Not to diss asoue at all, that's just how I always viewed the two together. I don't know whether to say should they have equal attention or not, I may decide later.

I believe that Harry Potter had a better ending, and I do like it a bit more... but they're pretty much equal to me.

I guess I just like the type of book where more things are explained to you (like LOTR which has other books that explain EVERYTHING about the LOTR world) rather than mysterious backstories and worlds like asoue. But of course, I still love asoue regardless.

I also think the age range has a lot to do with it too. I mean, think about it. ASOUE is slated in a spot or 8-12 year olds, but has an audience of much more mature readers as well, while Harry Potter was written for adults but at a level for kids to enjoy. So obviously, while one was written for a smaller audience level, it has gained less attention, the other has a much broader audience level and has gained tons of attention. I think it's kind of just.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events makes just as much sense as Harry Potter. Really. - MasterKlaus247

I love ASOUE more than Harry Potter, but I loved the ending to Harry Potter much more than ASOUE. I just like returning characters, min-events ( the wedding, the whole Ron and locket dilemma..), and a few questions answered- though I suppoe unanswered questions helps fanfiction.. ASOUE should definately have more fame (products, movie, etc) than it currently has, unless the fame suddenly depends on hiw good the ending is..

ASOUE is amazing, and I wished there would be a better movie....but that is off topic. I am trying to say: ASOUE is awesome Harry Potter...is brilliant (a word I never use)

Harry Potter is so much better than ASOUE. I used to not think so until I read the ending of The End. It opened up more plotlines than closing them and that ruined the entire series for me

Its hard to say because I liked HP first and was a HUGE fan!! But when I found the ASOUE books when they first came out they got me hooked as well. I voted that they should be equal because both are amazing, in my opinion. HP is a lot more detailed and the plot line is deeper ASOUE has a great plot that keeps you wanting to read more and the story line is brilliant and quite enjoyable.

The End sucked, and Harry Potter books are more detailed.
