^^i really want to watch that one...
here are my short unqualified opinions on movies i watched this month
house (1977) - i was stoned which definitely can enhance the experience i think .. but maybe i was too stoned (i don't usually smoke..) in any case it was really fun and cool to look at
close (2022) - really loved the beginning of it.. but i thought it made a dumb narrative decision early on which made the rest of the film boring
what ever happened to baby jane? (1962) - it is a little long for no reason.. and the twist is kinda dumb tbh.. but i did love joan crawford and bette davis' performances
the conformist (1970) - gorgeous..inventive storytelling with some psychological/historical depth.. i don't think i'm informed enough to really get into what it's trying to say politically but loved it nonetheless
a taste of honey (1961) - really funny and charming and sad..ah to be a pregnant young woman's gay best friend in the sixties!
the searchers (1956) - beautifully shot..did not much care for it otherwise, got bored
the hunger games: catching fire (2013) - it's not very good..

The conformist rocks. A taste of honey is cute but also has its kitchen sink drama to compensate for any hint of sentimentality... The characters reminded me a bit of Wes Anderson, if he made more serious films. Hausu is trippy comedy.

Fast an Furious 10. I'm not proud to have seen it, but I saw it in the cinema.

the hunger games: catching fire (2013) - it's not very good.. false. For me it's the best in the franchise.

Anyone read the prequel yet? I haven't and honestly I don't plan to. it's well written - all of the characters are fungdarks tho so you want to rip out the pages but i guess that's the intended effect

i haven't watched it, but i learned today that the reason people are going crazy over Oppenheimer is because it's the new Chris Nolan joint. then i remembered the existence of Gone With The Wind (1939) which turned the country's most shameful history (of 80 years before) into "Satanic Spectacle" so that everyone could spend the literal whole day at the movie theater while the world outside hit a new all-time low. anyway i want to see Oppenheimer now, cuz Chris Nolan is a BAWS.

Oppenheimer
I liked it, but my god, it was LONG. The first half made me very nostalgic for my degree. The trial parts were unnecessary. The cinema I went to in Soho was boiling. The sex scenes were largely unnecessary. Florence Pugh has very nice boobs. etc.

I agree with all your comments.
(Well, I can't vouch for the temperature of the Soho cinema)
