Dante: Guilty as charged. Many of my one-shots revolve around Esme being pregnant. ^_^;; I'm not sure why this should be seen as surprising - while Elle is clearly right to say that pregnant Kit is canon and pregnant Esme is not, it's certainly not the strangest thing that has happened in fanfic. |

Very true, Hermes. I've just been told in the past that it's strange to read about Esme being pregnant, since in the canon she doesn't like children (other than Carmelita, of course) very much. So that's what led me to believe that some might find it surprising.  |

That doesn't bug me quite as much as Esme being nice.
Oh, and bee tea double you, I asked my mom who she'd vote for and she was like "I don't know these people" and I was like "One cheated on her husband and one was impregnated by her boyfriend" and she was like "Cheating is worse" and I was like "YESH!" So my mom votes for Kit.. basically..

I think we've established that one of the candidates has a STRONG lead *hangs head in shame*. Also, I forgot to comment on this, but if it was a poll about whether K/O beats E/O, of course it does. K/O was like the whole round up of Olaf's evil-ness. E/O was a funny distraction in the middle |

Well, I take it Esme's pregnancy was accidental in origin. But her attitude to children seems a bit inconsistent - she says she doesn't want one, yet she welcomes Carmelita when she comes along - so I don't think it's at all clear she would reject a child of her own if she had one. (But I'm afraid that I rather agree with Elle that E being nice is hard to grasp.)

Perhaps it's that Carmelita has had time to grow up enough to be... like Esmé, rather than just a load. Throughout TEE Esmé shuns the role of a carer, having no interest in tucking the children into bed, for example. They also have no personality traits that appeal to her - unlike Carmelita. So I agree that if the right child came along - but again, as noted, it takes years for a child's personality to emerge. As such, adoption is probably more in than having a child of one's own.

I agree--another form of her narcissism in canon is that she welcomes a child that she can see will grow up to be just like her.

I think every kind of person can get an abortion, but I suppose in the sense that she makes it very clear that she hates every child except Carmelita in canon it might be more likely.

P.S: "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" is a great E/J song, and the way it seems to describe their wedding so perfectly is almost eerie. It's as if that song was written especially for them, even though we all know it wasn't. You all saw it. Emma called Esme a wh0re. |

I love how ridiculous Esme is. Her horrendous outfits are just great. And the giant tagliatelle from The Grim Grotto is hilarious. I voted for Kit though. I can't explain why.

For me, it is Esme.I have read only up til THH, so I don't know the deal with Kit Snicket other than she -obviously- is related to Lemony.^^
