I'm really bored. I'm supposed to go shopping with my friend but it's raining really hard so we're going to wait for that to clear. It's really disappointing because this is my last weekend in Vienna. I started thinking about what we can do to get some new members around here. There aren't really any other Lemony Snicket websites left to recruit from. Then I went on Facebook and I noticed that MasterKlaus247 has been joining lots of Snicket-related fan pages and groups. So far, he's a fan of Lemony Snicket, Daniel Handler, and the Gothic Archies, and he's a member of 'Lemony Snicket fan club,' 'Lemony Snicket Lovers,' 'The percipience of Daniel Handler’s verbiage is decidedly nonpareil,' and 'A Series of Unfortunate Events - The Tragic Treasury.' I checked out those pages. They all have recent posts and many have hundreds of members. Some have thousands of members. Why don't we post invitations to 667 on those groups and fan pages? I thought the best person to do so would be whoever is responsible for the Esme Squalor facebook account (I think that's Emma, right?) Maybe if she has time, she can draft an in-character invitation and we can help her improve it. Also, if you're on facebook please join the 667 Dark Avenue Facebook group

Yup, the Esme Squalor Facebook account would indeed be mine. I'll be going out this aftenoon, but tomorrow or perhaps even when I get back today I'll have some time to dedicate to coming up with something. Shall I post it here for some feedback?

You're very welcome, Tragedy. I'm probably not going to be around much until Monday, so I wanted to post this while I had the chance to see what you guys all think. I apologize if I don't do a very convincing canon!Esme-- those of you who've read my fics know that I tend to write her very OOC. Even so, I did my best to break away from that while writing this. *** Greetings, all you in (and out) people! It is I, Esmé Gigi Genevieve Squalor: the city’s sixth most important financial advisor and most fashionable person in the world. I have taken time out of my busy and very demanding schedule at Mulctuary Money Management to inform you of the most smashing news since pinstripe suits and parsley soda: and that is for my fellow villains volunteers and me to cordially invite you to gather with us in our community of 667 Dark Avenue. For those of you who aren’t aware of all the opportunities that await you, let me begin by saying 667 Dark Avenue is a place where one can unwind after a hard day at the bank or arranging and rearranging of their tie collection. It is a place where one can participate in detailed discussions regarding certain orphans, or masquerade as certain fashionable women and their husbands. It is a place where one can view fabulous works of art and stories that feature everything from three bratty orphans to a certain hotel manager and a deceitful boyfriend. Those who enjoy playing will surely find themselves at home in the “Ghastly Games” section. And for those of you who aren’t sure what you’re looking for, may I suggest “Menacing Miscellaneous”? There’s no need to be shy or even hesitate, though I must advise you to take the stairs if you decide to drop by for a visit to the penthouse. Because elevators are now out, I’ve undergone the task of having them permanently removed from the lobby— or however long it takes before they’re back in. Yours Truly, Esmé Gigi Genevieve Squalor *** One thing I'm not quite sure about is if the "Yours Truly" closing really suits Esme. I can't see her using "With All Due Respect", either, since that seems to be used frequently by volunteers. So if anyone has any ideas on what would make a better closing, please give me your suggestions. Thanks.

You're just saying that because you're too lazy to read it in full. Sloth.

I think she could probably throw in a couple more insulting comments, but I like it.

Thank you, Fancy. I'll try and come up with some more insulting things to include. ;D *EDIT* Goodness, I feel like this is too insulting. But I'll let you guys be the judges (everything is the same until the last two paragraphs). *** Greetings, all you in (and out) people! It is I, Esmé Gigi Genevieve Squalor: the city’s sixth most important financial advisor and most fashionable person in the world. Even the outest person is welcome to join our community, and so there’s no need to be shy or even hesitate. Though even if you are lucky enough to be in, you can never hope to achieve the inness that I possess, so don’t get your hopes up. If you ever decide to drop by the penthouse for a visit with me and my fashionably inept husband, you’ll be well advised to take the stairs. Because elevators are now out, I’ve undergone the task of having them permanently removed from the lobby— or however long it takes before they’re back in. Yours Truly, Esmé Gigi Genevieve Squalor

It's not too insulting -- those familiar with ASoUE (the ones who would join us) will know what you're talking about and be amused.

Thank you, Dear Dairy. I spoke with Jenny the other day about it, and she said the exact same thing.

Emma, if you are worried about that being too insulting, it just further explains the "most compassionate" banner in your signature.

*laughs* Thanks. ^_^ One of my biggest fears in life is that I'll offend someone without meaning to, even though that rarely turns out to be the case. I even remember feeling that way during my childhood.
