I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised to see Fearsome Fiction's favourite female turn up, eh? You've done a good job characterising an Esmé here who is somewhat on a knife-edge between heroism and villainy, helping people who she wants to while still indulging her taste for power. It also adds a different slant to the twins' alliance with Esmé at the end of TAA2, too. What a thought-provoking chapter, and what an excellent story you've given us, Emma. Thank you, Dante! My aim was to keep Esme as close to being the Esme we know from Tiago's ficverse and the canon. It's good to know that her being "nice" to Natalie didn't distract from that, which was my main concern. One of the ongoing themes I follow in my fics is the meeting between characters pre canon, with one or both being children, who I find quite enjoyable to write about. The appeararance of Esmé in this chapter was suprising, but exciting; Halloween must be one of her favorite holidays as well. This was a great fic, and a very pleasant ending (although we know what happens afterwards isn't quite so cheerful). I really like the way you've written Tiago's characters, and it's very interesting to learn more about them. Thank you, Sherry Ann! I'm glad the introduction of Esme came about as a surprise to you, and not obvious as I thought it would be. I do my best to keep everyone in character (unless there's a specific reason for them to be different from their canon selves, like how I usually write Esme), so it's nice to know I've managed to do that with Tiago's characters. Yes, a splendid Esme - and actually very canonical; we know she can be nice to people she likes, as she is to Carmelita. Thank you, Hermes! Yes, I figured that since Esme was nice to Carmelita, that there was no reason why she wouldn't extend that treatment to Natalie. And we all know from TAA2 that Esme certainly doesn't dislike the Finch siblings. @emmz: Wow. Just wow. You wow'ed me with every line Esmé delivered. There are tons of things I'd like to say, but they are all major spoilers, I'll just say there's more things in common between the Finches and Esmé than anyone thinks, in my ficverse. I can't say what exactly yet, but you guys are oh so clever. lol ^^ Anyways, Emmz, I'm amazed at how good you are a writer, and this story has been a marvelous, beautiful gift, not only to me, but to fellow YASoUE readers. I'd also like to add that in my ficverse, Esmé's birthday is on October 31. Thank you, Tiago! I'm so glad you enjoyed Esme's lines to that extent - I kept thinking of how you write her, and did my best to imply that to her character in this. Even though we've discussed the "common ground" between Esme and the Finches before, I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll introduce it into YASoUE. I'm flattered that you think I'm a good writer, and so glad that you and the other readers of YASoUE enjoyed my take on your wonderful ficverse. And how suiting it is that Esme's birthday is on October 31st. You have NO IDEA how happy it makes me to know that. It truly is the ultimate prize, as Dante said. Thank you again for your lovely comments, guys - they absolutely made my day! ^^
