I always imagined Hal talking like Herbert from Family Guy. xD

I sometimes read aloud quietly to myself just so I can "hear" the voices of the characters. Kit Snicket is my favorite character and also the favorite voice. It's fun to be distraught

I can only imagine some of the characters’ voices.
Violet: quite deep and very solemn and serious. Sunny: always energetic and spirited, no matter what. Carmelita: British accent, always cheery and confident, actually sings beautifully, but Lemony only heard her voice after it had been damaged by inhaling smoke in the Hotel Denouement fire and all the fires she set afterwards, and assumed it was always like that. Kit: a bit like Miss Honey in the film of Matilda. Lemony: Like in the Netflix series; deep and morose. Esmé: I once heard a voice in a dream which I knew immediately was hers. Low and calm, in a sinister way, with a real sense of malice.

Interesting thought about Carmelita! I don't usually think about how Lemony's limited in-person interactions with the characters influence the narrative, but it would be fitting if Carmelita's one true talent was ruined as a result of her misdeeds.

I somehow read "Sunny Baudelaire - Jack Black" at first, and I was both very confused and amused.

Mr Poe - Posh British, is identified by his coughs.
The White Faced Women - Cockney English accent.
Charles - Sounds like Simon Pegg.
Sir - Heavy Southern American.
Captain Widdershins - Stereotypical nautical sea captain voice.

Count Olaf -- Christopher Lloyd. There's a sinister, raspy/spidery quality to his voice that feels like Olaf to me. And on a funny side note, Christopher Lloyd voiced the Hacker, a villain on a PBS kid's show called Cyberchase. In one episode the character was disguised as a woman, so I've adopted that voice for Olaf's Shirley disguise (and again as Kit lol).
Hector -- Raul Julia (as Gomez Addams)
Captain Widdershins -- somewhat similiar to Andy Serkis's Scottish accent used in various roles.
Hal -- wavery voice
Powder-faced Women -- kinda soft-spoken, meek

Wow, Cyberchase is still airing? I'll sometimes go back and watch some older episodes on YouTube but I had no idea it was still on.

I keep misreading the title of this thread as 'How do you "bear" the characters?'
