Yep, I clicked on the "Go shopping" button, the "X" button on the upper right corner of the list, and it just reloads the same ol' thing. The background is unclickable.
And I seem to be the only having this problem. Getting kinda magically frustrating : /

I was really looking forward to Ollivander's... and getting sorted into a house... and, like, the rest of everything. I just hope this is a bug for some people that'll be fixed quickly.

As for the book thing, I doubt whether you say you've read the books changes the Pottermore experience. I think that's just their own survey.
