Awesome. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that "Who Could That Be At This Hour" refers to someone showing up at young Lemony's home to abduct him. Yes, that's what the Little Snicket Lad song describes, isn't it? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I wonder if you can pre-order stuff at Amazon being from another country...If it's possible, I'll be sure to pre-order my copy of Who Could It Be At This Hour?

...Gosh.
Some french website decided to announce the good news too. Except they got their information from the e-mail received by Quill&Quire about Harpercollins Canada. So now they believe that Seth is actually traumatized by Handler's terrible attitude towards him and that Handler is actually insulting Harpercollins in his "response."
...Well now they've acknowledged that everything about that is simply wrong, but now they say that Harpercollins deliberately realeased that e-mail to create a fake scandal, draw controversy towards them and promote the series in a cheap, tabloidesque way. Hello, pot, my name is kettle...

LOL I'm not upset F.D - I don't get upset. I just was expecting more exciting from the new series that's all. I understand, I was expecting something with very little to do with ASOUE, a brand new story. But still, I'm pretty excited ;D.

I am actually pretty excited now! Of course, I was before but I wasn't expecting something like this. This new information makes me 10 times more exited than originally. I can't wait to read it!

This will most likely change our perspective on the whole ASOUE books, we'll learn more about the inner workings of VFD, thus giving more meaining to books the TUA and TBL. I'm extremely excited, I'll probably pre-order from Amazon as well. Has anything been said about the Brittsh release? And $15.99 seems a lot compared to the other ASoUE books......

Hello, pot, my name is kettle... The Stupid ! It burns ! Wow, how tabloid can you get? That sounds like either a completely artificial scandal they did cook up themselves to get attention, as you imply, or they literally understand nothing about Lemony Snicket and how his books are promoted. Good thing nobody who matters listens to these morons, probably. Has anything been said about the Brittsh release? And $15.99 seems a lot compared to the other ASoUE books...... I did a bit of scouting around, and I get the impression that Little Brown in the U.S., HarperCollins Canada in Canada, and Egmont in the U.K. all sent out the same press release at the same time under their own respective labels, which would seem to indicate a simultaneous release in all three territories - i.e. October 23rd. And I think the original books, or at least the heavier later ones, sold for $12.99, so $15.99 could just be six years' inflation or it could be a full hardcover release rather than paper-over-board.

So any wild speculation or ideas about subject matter? I remember before The End, people were going crazy with specualtion. Personally, I'm hoping it might give some more insight into his relationships with Beatrice and Olaf (more than TBL does anyway).

Well yes, I am looking forward to that to. It'll also probably give us some insight into what VFD was like before the Schism, what they would normally be doing instead of desperate disguises, coded messages, the snicket snickersee and hunting for the sugar bowl. I think another fun thing to do would be to re-read the ASOUE series before the new series comes out, then re-read ASOUE again after you've read the whole new series and see just how our perspective on the books has been changed. We'll also hopefully be able to read TBL and TUA with less confusion, and think "Ah that was the reason why!" or "Oh, I understand now."

Yeah, hopefully. But on the other hand, I kind of thought all of the answers would be given in Book the Thirteenth, but not even close. Daniel Handler probably prefers to leave some things up to to specualtion, or "The Great Unkwon", so to speak.
