If it gets popular (like, really popular) maybe he'd be better known, and there could even be a larger ASoUE fanbase.

We might indeed anticipate more Snicket fans in any case with the release of ATWQ, but coupled with a movie expansion almost looks inevitable. How many did the ASOUE movie attract, I wonder?

Oh! [ Lemona, why didn't you see this thread before?] Anyway, that actually sounds good. I haven't read the book yet, but what I've heard doesn't actually sound that great, so I'm not mad to get hold of it. Perhaps, though, it will work better as a film. And Daniel's writing the screenplay should assure it'll be a decent adaptation. How many did the ASOUE movie attract, I wonder? Well, I don't know about attracting people to the books, even with the release of The Ominous Omnibus and such like, but it does seem that the movie is what the average person has heard of, rather than the books, even if they haven't seen it. They might or might not know of the books, but the film is what springs to their mind, in general. If you say "A Series of Unfortunate Events" they'll probably mumble around a little, trying to work out why it sounds familiar, and finally say something like "er- didn't Jim Carrey do that, or something? Um, I might be wrong." Anyway, that's my experience.

Very true. That's my experience with most people, especially with things like ASOUE and Harry Potter. It irks me no end. I'm glad that a fifteen-year-old is playing Min, as sometimes 20-something-year-olds are cast as high school kids. (Tomorrow When The War Began, for example.)

Oh, yes. It irks me too. Plus, I also agree that it's a good thing that someone who is actually high school aged is playing a high school student. I can't stand the weird casting of people in their early twenties to play people Min's age. OK, Lemona's stopped whinging now.

Adapting an epistolary novel is relatively difficult I think.
