Is it really necessary to show the negative side of his opponents instead of Obama's own positive side? Well, voting is kinda like choosing the lesser evil. There is no one true way, you just have to set your priorities straight. Snicket's "Reason #12" is just that he disagrees more with the opponents' sides than Obama's. Anyway, it's awesome of Handler to foray into different territories of the real world with his Snicket character. To the untrained eye it could seem it's cowardly to express opinions under a pseudonym, but I think he's just using the Snicket persona because that's what he's got famous for, and less people would read about his opinions as 'Daniel Handler.' Also it's not like he tries to keep his identity secret. So yeah, I hope Handler/Snicket continues to make these contributions to the public opinion on current affairs.

If people don't know who Lemony Snicket really is, it's very easy to find out, so the pseudonym isn't a defence of any kind; it's because Snicket acts as a very particular kind of persona with a very particular voice. This is the kind of article I'd expect from Snicket; if it were under Daniel Handler's name, I'd expect something a little different.
