Wow, there are a lot of new things and I don't know why some of them are there. Maybe I will know when I have read the book. I like the video with the magpie and the mirror.

In the words of the prole, "what the f*ck?" I, too, hope I'll understand this better once I read the book. But I'll get it in a week unfortunately, so keep it down with the spoilers thank you.
EDIT: Oh and I forgot to add that I'm nevertheless very pleased and thrilled with this big, and however enigmatic, website content update/expansion.

So there are a couple of pictures/videos on this site that are obvious in what they are referencing in Who Could That Be At This Hour, like the laudanum poison in Snicket's tea from Chapter 1 in this picture, as well as all of the mentions and depictions of ink and, most prevalent of all, octopi. But there still are quite a few things that seem to be either a little odd, or enigmatic, or even apprently very much out of context. One example would be the trailer for The Black Cat. It's a succesful 1934 horror film starring Lugosi&Karloff (read more about it here) and the only link to WCTBATH/ATWQ I can find is that its screenwriter is a pulp novelist called Peter Ruric aka Peter Cain. The many different-colored pictures of the screaming Mrs Sallis could be a parody of Andy Warhol's famous Marilyn Monroe pop art collage, or a game to be activated in the future (maybe some kind of 'Memory'). What definitely seems to be game to be unlocked in the future is this one, which not only looks like the picture of a game but also has a url indicating it (arcade.jpg). The video with the balloons (set to 'The Flight of the Bumblebee' while there is a bumblebee-shaped balloon in the video) may be a reference to the events in the book as I think there is a balloon in it (as seen in one of the illustration previews)--I haven't read the book yet. Just like the car chase video which may be a reference to a possible car chase in the book (again, judged from one of the illustrations). The video URL of the video with the music visualized as a note-rollercoaster leads here, where it says that the music is the 1st violin of the 2nd symphony, 4th movement by Ferdinand Ries performed by the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. The photo album titled "Memories" with octopus photos in it, may in fact be Lemony Snicket's photo album as the picture's URL is LS_Memories.jpg. The big, standing frog is an illustration of a sad Mr. Toad from the famous children's book "The Wind in the Willows." The illustration's original caption reads "Dwelling chiefly on his own cleverness, and presence of mind in emergencies." The handwritten piece of paper in the picture where it is with a bat skeleton says: "Unsuccessful effort to draw bats from the belfry of W.A. White" and is a sketch by Teddy Roosevelt prefacing a letter of January 1, 1917, to the editor of the Emporia Gazette. The gif of the octopus lights or the moving eyes gif are also interesting, with there being a hidden gif of similar eyes as well. But there's still many things that don't make sense to me. Like, I still don't know what the polaroids of the package-wrapped telephone, car, house and something unidentifiable are (on the last polaroid there is "hold this" written)? The fish-eye-lens-type of distorted version of one of the illustrations? Or what about the video of the aggressive magpie? For now I'll wait until I get my hands on the book.

Excellent research, Terry Craig. Having read the book, I can say that most of those are relevant, but some very obliquely so. The horror film is a reference to the Black Cat Coffee Shop (note: Not a spoiler, we found out about this from the Educator's Guide), and I think it's just the musical note rollercoaster and the magpie in the mirror I don't understand.

I think it's just the musical note rollercoaster and the magpie in the mirror I don't understand. Not sure about the magpie yet, but I think the music might be the tune from Ellington's record player; i.e., the one Lemony couldn't get out of his head. (On the other hand, we are actually given the name of the composer, which makes less sense if it's meant to be a musical.)

I'd have thought that too, but: Remember An Analysis on Brown, Black, and Beige - the book in the music section that Ellington says would be the first she'd check out? The name seems to vary depending on where you look, but it turns out that that's a music suite by Duke Ellington, and therefore that's probably the tune Ellington was listening to.

Then I suppose You're right, there are no other instances I can recall of music featuring in the book at all. However, I doubt either of the mysterious videos are red herrings.

Am I the only person who this doesn;t work for? Probably not. It seems to take ages to load. The contents have been fairly well detailed; there isn't anything new for you to learn if you've read the book, it's just a collection of mostly real-world images and videos that link to aspects of the book, like octopi.

Later today, I'll put together some screenshots for anyone who has trouble viewing the various media on the webpage. Obviously, there's nothing I can do about the videos, but I'm sure at least some of them can be located off-site.
