When Kevin and Colette joined Olafs group, they thought the Baudelaires were the murderers. Now they know Olaf is, why don't they quit?
Is fear stopping them or do they have nowhere else to go?

I think they are still happy that someone wants them to work for him and that they are not seen as freaks but as members of the group. They think being evil is better than being a freak.

I agree with Anka. Olaf's previous helpers had freakish features as well - the white faced women saw themselves as freakish even though they had chosen their freakish feature themselves.
There's also the passage where Fernald says 'I've ended up committing more murder, arson and blackmail than I expected'. Once you get in to that sort of thing it's hard to get out.
