-I hope your eye heals, Amber. -*hugs to the maxx* -I'm listening to Radiohead's "No Surprises". -I need to do a story for English. -I may post it here if I feel like typing it up (it has to be handwritten).

-That reminds me. -Mother said something about the hospital earlier. -Apparently, there are a lot of people around my age about to be shifted to the adult unit, and I'm to be some sort of trial kid. -I'm always the trial kid. -Or at least, I was once. -I can't remember what for, but I was doing some sort of trial thing. -And I would like to impress upon you all that I most certainly was not on trial. -Although really, it's just a matter of time -Anyway, the point is: Shouldn't I be going to the hospital sometime? -I can't remember the last time I went. -Oh wait, it was just before school started, I think. -That wasn't so long ago, I guess. -Now I face a dilemma. -Do I read Thief of Time, or do I watch Out-Take TV? -On the one hand, I'd like to finish Thief of Time today. -On the other hand, I really like out-takes. -The sort where people fall into things, anyway. -People just messing up their lines is rather dull. -Oh, and there was one once where somebody was graffiting "MURDERER" on a wall, and they just went on and on and wrote "MURDERERERER." -And another where there was an unfortunate juxtaposition of a rather serious scene in a crime drama, and some tinkly ice-cream van music. -Stuff like that is amusing. -Unexpected, uncommon. -Now where was I? -Oh yes. -Still on the other hand, I'm probably going to have to stay up and read Thief of Time anyway. -But on the other other hand, that is to say, the first hand, it's a really good book. -I'm probably going to end up reading the book in the lounge and glancing at the TV occasionally. -I'm not sure how well I feel. -Oh, and I found out that a guy in some of my classes who I speak to sometimes was in Y13 last year, but he's been put back in Y12 for some reason. -It's odd; he seems smart enough. -No clear personality flaws or intelligence defects. -Although he is a tad pompous. -And people sometimes complain that he stares at them. -I'll keep an eye on him, in case he's secretly insane and is going to snap some day. -If anyone snaps and goes completely insane, I want to be around to see it. -Although in all fairness, it might well be me. -Oh, I do ramble sometimes. -But now I'm too tired to go on. -My fingers are getting weary.

-Somebody in my junior high, I think, was left back a year. -I remember him being rude and misbehaving in class a lot, so he probably had a poor grade in Citizenship(or Conduct, or whatever they were calling it then). -One of my teachers in high school once proudly announced that in (some number) years, our high school had only one student who didn't graduate. -Or maybe this teacher was saying that in all his/her years of teaching, only one student had failed his/her class. -It was some statement along those lines. -My government quiz wasn't terribly hard, but I really got stuck on a couple of questions. -I wrote a lot for most of them, but I'm not sure if my answers were very good. -I think I might be getting a cold. -I got the photos from our (now-broken) camera back. -Some of them are pretty old, from the time I visited my grandparents about a month and a half ago. -My grandparents have a cool house.

My aunt asked me if I wanted to go to New York. So I am. Over Christmas. I did a little dance last night. And I finally remembered to tell J.

-Antenora, I agree. -Your grandparents do have a cool house. -It makes me realise that we don't have much stuff in my house. -I've started reading Night Watch. -I've only read a few pages of it so far. -I just sneezed. -A black bird just flew past the window, quite high up. -Which reminds me - I saw some crows at school yesterday. -Through the window of my Politics/Government room. -I really need to decide what to call that class. -I think it's meant to be "Government." -That's what they call it on all the forms and stuff. -Actually, I think I just saw one crow. -It flew down from the roof and perched atop a lamp-post. -At least, I think it was a crow. -They could be ravens. -It's rather hard to tell. -So far, I haven't managed to find a picture that exactly matches them. -My father bought me some Willy Wonka chocolate yesterday. -It was a... Nutty Surprise? -And the surprise was that it didn't actually have nuts in. -No, really. -It was pretty tasty. -I've still got some left. -It wasn't a bar; it was one of those big squared chunks that you just break bits off of. -Hm, all the cloud patterns have faded.

-My parents have told me not to download any screensavers. -They're very cautious about downloading stuff. -Our computer has gotten infected with spyware and such, and we want to avoid that happening again. -My father's accepted a job with another paint company. -But I'm going to do my career shadowing at his current company, at the end of this month. -On the 28th, I think. -It's scheduled for a minimum day, so I can go to the workplace in the afternoon and not miss any classes. -I saw several little blackbirds at my school yesterday. -I've never liked sour cream. -My sister loves it, though.

-You know, I don't think I've ever had sour cream. -Or quite a few other garnishes, for that matter. -I'm glad to hear the job and career-shadowing are working out, Antenora. -I've been reading Night Watch. -Time-travel novels can get rather tiresome, where everyone meets younger versions of themselves. -It just seems so... I can't find the words for it, but I'm not fond of it. -And Night Watch seems a little serious for my tastes. -Father's going to order The Last Hero for me. -Counting paperback books, there are only four Discworld books that I have left to read. -(I understand that Going Postal is still in hardcover, and my parents refuse to buy those where possible.) -And in terms of books we have in the house, there are only three left for me to read, including the one I'm reading. -And while reading the books at school, I've discovered that quite a few people I know have read some of them. -It's funny; I never really thought of them as being the sort of people that read. -It just doesn't seem to fit with them; I can't imagine it. -People can be so surprising. -Oh, and I got some application form at school yesterday for a National Union of Students card. -Most people seem to be getting one. -Actually, that's not true. Nobody's really been talking about them. -But two or three people I know were talking about getting one. -Mother, who works with/for the Union of Students, says she's never seen such a card. -So now I'm considering whether or not to get one. -I guess I'll read through the leaflet thoroughly before deciding whether to get one. -It costs money and requires effort, so I probably won't bother. -And if Mother's right, they probably aren't worth much.
Edit:
-I read the leaflet. -It just gets you money off stuff at shops and such. -I don't even go to shops, or things like that. -So it's a waste of my time, and I'm not going to get one. -It sounds like it's only valid while I'm in Y12 and 13, anyway. -So no, really no point in getting it.

-My school library has none of the Discworld books, or anything by Pratchett. -I don't know if anyone there has read them. -And I don't take my Discworld books to school with me, as I wouldn't have that much time in which I could read them. -My free period's generally taken up with checking 667 and doing homework. -Which reminds me, I need to write...something...for Crime and Punishment. -There was a quote I was going to analyze, but I can't remember what it was. -I'll get to that later. -Next Monday is Talk Like a Pirate Day.-My school had a pirate dress-up day a couple years ago, whenever it was that this occasion was on Friday. -I remember that last year, it was on the day we had the Grim Grotto Ball, or at least it was during the same weekend as that.

-People don't really pay attention to minor silly holidays around here. -If you mentioned Talk Like A Pirate Day to... I think it would be fair to guess at 95% of people at my school, and all but perhaps one or two members of staff, they'd say "What Day?" -Pity, really. -It'd be a bit of fun that's rather lacking, I notice. -Hm. -Now that I think about it, I haven't been in the school's new library yet. -I'm unclear on when it's open. -I don't think I've ever seen anyone in it but teachers. -Oh dear. -My back has started to hurt. -I think I really will go and lie down for a minute. -After I've talked about lunch. -I had some leftover pizza from Friday - I think I'll make this into a routine - along with some lettuce and stuffed olives. -The stuffed olives seemed rather less strong this week. -Which is good, as they were rather too strong before. -It's windy outside. -And it's just getting sunny, too. -Well, I'll be back at some point. -Hard to say when, really. -When I get tired of lying around in my room, I think.

-I finally did what I was planning to do--wrote something about Crime and Punishment for lit class. -I'll read/write more this weekend, hopefully. -I have the rest of the month, just about, to finish that book. -Maybe we'll discuss it in class next week, since we're pretty much done with Catcher in the Rye. -And then there's that outside reading thing I'm really not sure what to do about. -That can wait a while, though. -I think we're supposed to finish it by Christmas break. -Today, there will be several new shows on Kids WB. -There's that Loonatics show, which looks awful but might be so bad it's good. -There's also a new show called Johnny Test, and onecalled Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island or something, both of which just look completely silly. -There are new episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh, too. -I want to see the movie Corpse Bride. -It hasn't been released in any theater anywhere near me, though.
