Now that we have decided on this year's categories, it's time for the nominations!
I will make threads for every category now, in which you can nominate people, and you can also send a PM to me (anka) to nominate them privately.
I'll be away from the afternoon of April 19th (Friday next week) until the 21st, also in the afternoon, and the nomination threads will be locked before I leave, even though the voting only starts when I'm back. If you want to nominate someone else during that time, it's only possible in a PM.

Anka, there doesn't seem to be a thread for Most Compassionate.

Because there are so many people nominated for some categories, there will be pre-votings for the categories with more than 17 nominations. Depending on how many there are exactly a certain number of nominations gets in the final poll. You can vote there from Friday until Sunday. Please note that this is boring, because we will all see a tendency where the final voting will go, and try to keep the number of nominations under 18.

I believe there is a system whereby the results of the poll can be hidden from the public until the results are no longer relevant? For instance, the pre-voting results could be hidden until late May, after the award show has taken place. This way we eliminate candidates by who is on the final poll, but can't identify any immediate outward trends - if any one person is winning by a large margin, say.

I think the results of a poll can only be hidden until the poll is locked, so I can only hide them by leaving them unlocked until after everything else, that's also what will happen with the results of the final voting.

They could be moved to a password-protected board once the voting ends, and then locked.

Depending on how many there are exactly a certain number of nominations gets in the final poll. You can vote there from Friday until Sunday. These categories are: Best Pairing, Funniest Member, Most Valued Poster The 10 nominations with the most votes will get to the final poll. If the 10th and 11th place have the same number of votes, all the options with that number of votes won't be nominated in the final voting.

I think it would probably be good to have something like a first and second choice, so as to establish more of a trend in voting.

You will be able to chose 2 or 3 (I haven't decided yet) where there are 18-24 options, and 3 or 4 where there are 25 or more. There can't be a first and a second choice in polls, so it would be complicated to make it possible, especially because I'm not here.
