Are your mum jokes inherently sexist? There is certainly no male equivalent, and the implication is often some sort of shaming.

We could invent Your Dad jokes.
I knew people at school who had two mums, so if anyone made a your mum joke they could ask which one.
I never made a your mum joke, I think I would always be scared that someone would hear it whose mum died or something.

In eighth grade I singlehandedly caused the banning of yo mama jokes throughout the whole school because I was telling so many of them in the presence of teachers. Literally every other word that came out of my mouth would either be "yo" or "mama" or both said very quickly. It even became an instinctual response to every question asked of me; like, the teacher would say, "How do you prove that the measure of angle X is parallel to side Y?" and I would be all like, "Yo mama proves that the measure of angle X is parallel to side Y."
So yeah, they're pretty cool.

It's like the 'son of a magee' insult. The worst thing a man can have is a '''~magee~''' for a mother.
The worst thing a woman can be...well, I won't go into that list of insults.

I think people do Your Mom jokes because most people kind of prefer their moms over their dads and therefore would feel more offended if someone made fun of their mom. I dunno, just thinking out loud (?) here
