Let's see. In the paperbacks, the full-page illustrations only appeared in odd-numbered chapters. The first illustration we got will have been Chapter Three; this one looks like Chapter Five. For an illustration of Dr. Orwell, Chapter Nine would fit; for Charles, Chapter Eleven is just about possible, and Chapter Thirteen more likely. These are narrow windows, though.

I just sent Brett a tweet. He confirmed that the guy on the top bunk in the first illustration is indeed Phil.

Nice to put another face to a name. Thanks, dcbrown94 (and indeed to Mr. Helquist).

Odd, I tweeted him that question, but he did not reply! Good we now have Phil; now just imagine him with a picture of Herman Melville on his chest!
Handler and Curry portray him in two different ways; Handler voices him as a Southern of America, Helquist; like Nigel Thornberry.

You've got a point there!
I can't trace Handler's attempt on Orwell; is she German or Russian. I initially thought the later but now I am second guessing.
