I think he is a V.F.D.er because if V.F.D. stands for the Volunteer Fire Department, then fire causes smoke. And smoke causes people to COUGH!!!Do you think I'm right?Think I'm wrong? Please let me know what you think!

I resent that! Mr Poe, aside from Lemony himslef, may infact be one of the most complicated and mysterious characters. Let us discuss this further. *Puts on reading glasses and takes out clipboard*
First of all: He's a banker, which means he spends a lot of time around money. Who do we know who likes money? Olaf and Esme, of course! So he already has a connection with the two main baddies.
Second: He is remarkably deaf and blind for someone in perfect health. He never seems to understand anything and always lets Olaf get away. Can you say "double-cross"?
Third: He coughs. A lot. Maybe it's some kind of code! (Lol.. or maybe not... ;D)
My bet is that he's evil. Or being blackmailed/threatened by Olaf. *Nod nod* Anyone have anything to add?

he could be blackmailed or threatened by Olaf becuz when he brings the Baudelaires somewhere, theres Olaf! count Olaf must be telling Mr. Poe where 2 go so he(Count Olaf) can get the money!

Or maybe it's the other way around and Mr Poe tells Olaf where the Baudelaires will be going next-- maybe even before he even tells the Baudelaires!

ok... first u can skratch the poe telling olaf... duh havent u read the 9th book-- sorry if this spoils it-- lulu tells olaf where the baudelaires are --- until she got eaten by a pack of man-eating lions with the bald man-- but thats besides the piont-- so u see that theory wouldnt work out and mr poe is still boaring ...in my opinion
