for those unaware: www.papermag.com/2015/08/banksy_dismaland.phpas if capitalizing on his own anti-capitalist views wasn't ridiculous enough, the whole parody of disney thing is so uninspired and hackneyed tbh thoughts on this thing/banksy in general??

It has the same sort of feel as a hot topic store.

Banksy has become a parody of himself for sure. But I totally unironically adore that grim reaper on the bumper car. He is having such a good time.

I actually considered making a thread about it, but then didn't. I can only agree that this has Banksy entering self-parody, but the amount of backlash it has caused is ridiculous as well. It seems to me that people are mostly jumping on the train to hate on it bc they are bored. The thing is essentially just a normal group exhibition (even though it is promoted as a disamusement park or whatever) built on a really thin joke (Disneyland parody). Banksy has done quite a number of solo-exhibitions before, and people seemed to have liked those. This time the art pieces there are mostly not by Banksy, but by artists from around the world.. unfortunately they don't seem to be all that great. Still, the entry fee is merely 3 pounds, so it's not like they're mking tons of money. Banksy's work is his usual stuff, really, and some of it is pretty good (I like the boat ride with migrants, or the Birds-piece quite a bit). So all in all, eh, it's not a success but it's a'ight.

It looks like the kind of thing I would probably enjoy going to. Like I'm intrigued. I don't really have an opinion on it in general I just feel a mild curiosity.

I used to admire Banksy and everything he did, but then I saw Hanksy's artworks.

I personally think anyone who does something based around dark-side-of-Disney stuff at this point is out of ideas.
