A lovely article on Handler's interest in classical music and its influence on him as a child I also love the fact that there's a 'soundtrack' to his writing of ASOUE for us to listen to.

A nice selection of thoughts and anecdotes. It's always interesting to hear this kind of thing from Handler. It seems very appropriate that ASOUE was written to the sound of an unfinished piece of music, particularly one with 'Mystery' in the title.
Other than that, there's the "I'm working on a novel full of tricky sexual drama" part, which is interesting news! Being Daniel Handler, he really might just as effectively have said he was working on a novel and left it at that, but that alone is something I didn't know. I'm excited about it, since it's the first Handler novel I get to look forward to having read all of his previous ones.

Wow the stuff about comparing pop to Shostakovich (fourth paragraph) is pretty much a re-arranged version of how he phrased the same sentiment at an appearance at Google to promote TCID back in 2009. Such memories.
Happy to see it's still being performed, good for you London.
"Tricky sexual drama" ok then. That's slightly more info than we've had until now.

The Scriabin reference is interesting, given 'Scriabin's birthday' in TBL.
