Damn it, the farm house in the background is apparently a red herring: valorousfarmsdairy.com/I liked the video, though.

I very much appreciate how everything is littered with references. The frequency almost feels like an attempt to subconsciously convince me that the show and book universe are one and the same. For those who see the show before reading the books, I think it'll be fun to come across all the little details they've spotted in the background on TV when they do read them. Things they've seen before but never realised had (potentially great) significance. I think this experience would be more fun than spotting references in the show from our perspective, because we already know what the references might be.

Holy salsa the link is live now. It was not a red herring, they were just late in activating the site

After lurking for an extremely long time I finally made an account! The new secret website has holiday greeting cards. I absolutely love the "Give the gift that keeps on giving- your inheritance." This marketing team is doing a great job and I'm so hype. And when you post it on social media, it says "VFD will receive your public profile" ha. I'm not sure what the secret website protocol is- let me know if you want me to post screenshots of the rest of the site with the cards and/or descriptions. Attachments:

Yes the ad campaign is really great. It's still strange we don't have a 4th concept art.
I think the Special effects work very nicely. They have stylized them so there budget can actaully make them look pretty good. I'm interested to see all the other crazy things Sunny will do in this series.

Not sure it gets much better than a The Unauthorized Autobiography reference. (I guess we've already seen a clip of Zombies in the Snow!)

And when you post it on social media, it says "VFD will receive your public profile" ha. If I'd have any reason to share one of the postcards, it'd be to surrender my information to V.F.D.

People have always had a hard time accepting that the things they like weren't targeted specifically at them, I think, and it doesn't help any that YA fiction has become incredibly popular this decade. While I'd argue that being aimed specifically at children doesn't stop ASOUE from being incredibly funny and thoughtful, marketing it at an older crowd doesn't really hurt the show. A bit feckless? Yeah. But balls and marketing don't always go hand in hand. As for comics and graphic novels, I always assumed there was a distinction in terms of format? Comics come in monthly issues, graphic novels are collected into volumes? 'Graphic novel' is certainly sometimes to convey that the work is more serious than mere comics, but it's true that it is the only name really available for book-sized works. The obvious word, 'comic book', has for some reason become the name of the weekly things, while 'comic novel' would mean something by P.G. Wodehouse or the like. But the use of 'Young Adult' for what were traditionally children's stories is something I find very annoying. YA was originally meant to a new kind of work which stood beside children's books, and did not replace them. In actual publishing it still largely is, though the borders are getting murky. But people constantly refer to classic children's books as Young Adult, and do seem to think of being a children's books as shameful. And of course it's a self-reinforcing process: the more good fiction is reclassified as YA, the more shameful being a children's book becomes.

Anybody else get the inkling that, perhaps, when the show drops, a lot of those VFD websites that formerly led to 404's and a redirection to the Netflix page will suddenly become filled with even more "secret" content, uncovering a treasure trove of "information" to tide us over till season 2?

I like how please the Baudelaires are about their puttanesca at the beginning of the trailer. Knowing what Olaf's reaction is going to be.
It's interesting how obvious they are being that the eye is a symbol. I know it's plastered everywhere but I hope that it's a little more sudittle in the showon

The destruction of Aunt Josephine's house is looking pretty epic. Interestingly the hole in the window is person shaped. I'm guessing Aunt Jo pushes that statue (seen in the previous trailer) through the window to make the hole. That's really a pretty clever addition to Aunt Jo's plan, the Baudelaire's would of course notice the statues disappearance and realize what had happened and without tipping off Olaf.
It does indeed seem as if only half of the house is destroyed though. I'm curious why they didn't send the whole thing over.

I know I've said this before and that I probably sound like a broken record in the same way the people I'm complaining about do, but seriously, the "where's Jim Carrey" commenters should do the world a favor and just leave the rest of us alone. It's clear most of them probably aren't going to watch the show, so I wish they'd stop flooding the comment sections with these useless, boring, uninteresting variations of the same question. I'm fine with people thinking he was a good Olaf (though, personally, I don't agree), I'm just sick of reading the comments asking where he is! The answer is "not in this show", plain and simple, and whining about him not being there won't suddenly cause NPH to magically morph into him. It's fine to like Carrey's portrayal, I'm just sick of seeing people whining about him. The information that he's not in the show has been around for months, and while I'm certainly not expecting everybody who's interested in the show to be as devoted to learning new information about it as us, it's not exactly difficult to find any number of articles from, at this point, nearly half-a-year-ago informing everybody that he's not in the show. Heck, it was even trending on Facebook back when it was first announced!
The same can also be said for people who keep questioning "why are they making this again?". Like, it literally takes around 60 seconds to type "A Series of Unfortunate Events Movie" into google and learn that the first movie barely covered the first three books. Not to mention, remakes and reboots are "the thing" these days so why are people so quick to question this one?! Especially when this one actually stands to gain something by being given another go?! Ugh! Sorry. Again, I know I must sound like a broken record but I just needed to vent for a second. Ignorance annoys me, especially when it's something that could so easily be figured out by a simple, quick Google search. Again, not expecting everybody to be massive fans like us, I'm not that crazy or delusional, but I would at least appreciate knowing that, if they're going to complain, they could at least know the basics of what they're complaining about first.
Also, that new Facebook ad is pretty dope. Twenty one days, guys. Twenty one days then we get to see what we've all been waiting for. Oh my goodness, I'm so excited!
Also, in reply to Strangely's comment above mine, maybe they're saving the house to topple when they're under the door-frame, kinda like in the movie? And, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that kinda how it happened in the book too? They got all the way to the door then it fell in? Like I said, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
