Yes, Netflix always releases their shows at 12am PST on the scheduled day of release. Being raised on the 24-hour clock, I'm not completely brushed op on the 12-hour one. If 12am means midday, that's very problematic for me, and may mean that I'll have to stay up all night watching the show before going on a two-hour train journey to meet up with someone for academic and culinary purposes, which is something I'd much prefer to be well-rested for. If it means midnight, it's pretty much perfect for me. I'm going to google it now, fingers crossed. ... Phew.

When I were young, we were told that you shouldn't say '12 a.m.' and '12 p.m.' (since it wasn't clear what they would mean - midnight is both before and after noon, and noon itself is neither). We just said '12 noon' and '12 midnight'.

It's going to be a bit strange actually watching the show. I can't picture myself doing it, let alone watching the later seasons.

For the international fans, 12 am PST is 8 am GMT

I could possibly sneak in one episode before my appointment that morning. But that's probably wishful thinking.

It seems it'll be released at 09:00 for me. On a lazy Friday, that'll be a very pleasant time to wake up and watch it, I expect.
Theplague, I feel the same way. For such a long time, I've thought about this project so often, and even before it was revealed, it was a recurring fantasy to see a full-scale TV adaptation of ASOUE. To actually have it happen - it seems unreal, to say the least.

I don't like the newest trailer and I hope it's not part of the show's opening or anything. The overall concept of having a bunch of traditional symbols of bad luck feels like it was thought up by someone who was told nothing other than the title of the show. The focus on superstition has little to do with the actual content or spirit of the show, and feels a bit too un-cynical. I also think it overall might have suffered from the existence of the fake trailer. It might have been a bit limiting to avoid comparisons. I saw it more having to do with the Friday the 13th release date of the show rather than the show itself. I think it was just playing into the superstition that comes along with that day. However, despite its ties with the 13th, it was an odd release time for it. It would have been more more effective if we didn't already have a ton of footage to dissect. But as it is, I don't think it was supposed to be a big release. Just a neat little video catering to the fans, and looking at it that way, I really enjoyed it. Something else to consider is that they released that trailer on their international channels, as well. I think that, with its unlucky symbols from around the world, it was a subtle way of reassuring audiences the world over that it would have mass appeal. But yeah, the series isn't actually about bad LUCK, so I get what you're saying.

the books have a recurring theme of 13, which is just as much a symbol of bad luck as any other things they have in the teaser

New interview with Daniel Handler! ew.com/tv/2017/01/11/lemony-snicket-series-of-unfortunate-events-netflix-daniel-handler/Among other topics, he talks about adapting the series for television, the development processes for both the movie and the Netflix show, and writing for season 2. (He confirms that season 2 will be 10 episodes that end on The Carnivorous Carnival and that the writers are hoping to get the go-ahead for season 3 (!!!) because of the need to film these rather quickly.)

I think The Ersatz Elevator might be the one I'm most excited to see on screen. It always stood out as my favorite when I read ASOUE as a child and even all these years later it's still in my top three. I love Esme and Jerome. I love the setting. I love the plot twists (with the Quagmires and the Baudelaire mansion). I absolutely can't wait to see it!

I find it interesting that Netflix is trying to keep the "two familiar faces"/"mystery parents" storyline mostly under wraps, but included the shot of the VFD photograph in the main trailer. I don't think anyone would have guessed Cobie Smulders and Will Arnett were involved in the series if it wasn't for that one detail, but now it's common knowledge among fans (well, obsessive fans).
