THAT OPENING THOUGH
IT'S SO PERFECT
I need to go back through frame by frame but I had to express my joy over it first. However, important point: I really love the font they're using for the credits. It feels very ASOUE-ish, and I prefer it to the other font they've been using -- though I'm fine with that, too.
Unless that's some sort of crazy coincidence re 'aged by a life of villainy', then that's incredibly awesome that they're delving into this forum so deeply.
I love the song, NPH's voice has a great sort of ... I don't know how to put it; a sort of dark, melodramatic quality. I'm also very excited to see the credits changing with each episode or with each book.
And argh the whole connecting photos and articles etc. with string is so. RIGHT.

I love the theme so much. I was going to make a new thread just so we can all breakdown the Theme and give certain insights into it and people who dont want to look at it till tomorrow can hold off and not get spoiled.
i shoud have it up in 20 minutes or so, had to figure out how to import all the pictures.

Hahaha! Hermes wrote my highlight! It didn't come up for me when I googled the phrase, but that's absolutely wonderful! Also kind of a curious feeling to know that the people in charge apparently follow 667 closely enough to make that kind of references. Now I'm wondering whether one of us is secretly Daniel Handler?

It feels like a really, really special, unique time, shared by lots of people around the world who share a big passion about a special thing Comet- I've always thought about how easy and interesting it'd be for a creator to secretly use their dedicated forum I know the Rick and Morty creator did it on Reddit when the show first aired. He'd complain about the show because if he said the worst things about it, it wouldn't feel so bad when others criticised it to a lesser degree.

I rather like the idea of DH using this forum to spread misinformation and confusion. It would, I feel, be highly appropriate.

And now I'm sad that we don't get an official Russian localization again Anyway I don't think that song is getting out of my head any time soon. I feel like the intro is way closer to the feel of the books than any of the trailers. Netflix is in a precarious spot in Russia. Russia sanctions are pretty harsh on Netflix. everything must be approved by your media association before it is allowed to stream. I don't know what the status of the show is there, do you? Love it when people assume that Russian censorship is hardcore because the totally honest and non-biased news sources told so. Even if things get banned, you can read and watch them, they just don't get a translation (and it ends up getting a fan translation instead) Netflix is in a weak spot here right now because it became possible to subscribe to it only this year. And it's not very popular, I don't know anybody who watches it at least, people just pirate shows or watch TV instead. Online streaming hasn't come to Russia yet, and as a result none of the things that come out get localized or promoted because there's no profit from it. Netflix was more successful in Western Europe cause a big portion of the population there understands English, meanwhile only 5% of Russians can understand English (and not that well). 5 different fandubs/fansubs teams stated that they'll be translating the show when it comes out, but I still wish we had an official localization so we could have songs in Russian like all these other localizations. I feel privileged knowing that I can watch shows in English and not get the experience ruined by a mediocre dub. When I go on the Netflix page all the shows and movies including ASOUE seem to be there, at least those that I've seen Netflix's Youtube channel put up trailers of.

Oh oh oh I forgot to say I heard the show reviewed on the radio earlier -- I think it was on Front Row, for anyone who listens to BBC Radio 4 -- and they had Chris Riddell, an illustrator & author and the current children's laureate on to review it and basically he and the interviewer were both really positive. It wasn't a particularly long discussion, but I remember them saying that the CGI works really, really well and gives the show the feeling of a lavishly illustrated book. They also said Snicket's constant habit of defining words is kept up in the show & generally that it's very faithful to the books. Nothing much very new, but it was great to hear another good review!

I just heard the Lemony Snicket TV spot (the one where he talks over the footage) play on the television in another room and I don't think I've ever run so fast in my life.
