Wow, so it looks like all 8 episodes are going to be released on January 13, 2017. I think it's brilliant they're releasing it on Friday 13th, and although I would have preferred them to do it one episode at a time, I can't really complain. Daniel Handler linked to this article on his Facebook page which doesn't really say much of interest that we don't learn from the trailer. It says the show will premiere on 13 January but I found this misleading - to me, that implies they will only release the pilot on January 13 but the Netflix trailer says "ALL EPISODES FRIDAY, 13 JANUARY". Some initial comments I had about the trailer: - First of all, I loved it. It's not much, of course, but I think it's a brilliant trailer.
- There's a box with "Very Flammable Dandelions" written on it at 0:26. (And a "The Littlest Elf" clapperboard at 0:33.)
- For the first few seconds I thought Warburton sounded remarkably like Handler, although later it seems closer to Warburton's normal voice. I liked both voices though, and think they suit Lemony Snicket.
- I like Olaf/NPH's voice, or at least for the five seconds we hear it for.

GUYS GUYS GUYS THERE'S A TRAILER! I usually go for italics over all caps to express excitement, but THERE'S A TRAILER!
I don't actually see Mr. Warburton as Lemony Snicket yet. He seems much too suave compared to the self-depricating adult I like to imagine him as. So for the moment: No, this is Patrick. It's only a matter of time until I've heard him say enough Snickety things, though. Which, now that there's a clip of him doing so for me to watch over and over again, can't be that long.
The music sounded a little fairytale-y for my tastes, but I guess the show needs to have fairytale elements in order to subvert them. Very Flammable Dandelions are good, as are Monty Kensickle and his involvement in 'The Littlest Elf'.
And I like the voice of NPH's Olaf.

I'm so excited right now. I love the way they are breaking the fourth wall in this trailer. I think Patrick will be a great Lemony as well as NPH that voice is great. Im bummed because I have to head off to work and want to do a frame by frame to see what's all hidden in there. Trying to figure out which set that is? I think it might be palrryville because things are shaped like actual store.

Interestingly, Kensicle is here the director of The Littlest Elf. (In the source, he wrote the book, but the film was directed by Sebald.)

Yes, I thought so, too! Trip, your Taxi post is getting a like from me in a few seconds, and I'd like you to know that that's because of your elaboration on being too excited to elaborate.

Ok, I think I'm done making high-pitched shrieks of utter delight. Even more than his voice, it's Warburton's inflections and cadence that are making me happy. They're spot on imitations of both Handler and Tim Curry, but he's not trying to mimick them so well that it's blatant, so I think it will be very easy to see him as Lemony the more dialogue we get. NPH's shiver-inducing chuckle after his singing (and agree with everyone about the voice) is perfect!!! The music is appropriately dramatic, and presents it's own subversion, since its most inviting strains are played just after we're told not to watch.

I'm pretty sure Monty Kensicle is an anagram for Lemony Snicket which makes it weird that he is directing since he is mostly an author. I do think it's just for the trailer as a wink to the book readers more then anything that will play out in the actual tv show

The Twitter account changed their icon and header today! A nice VFD insignia on the background we saw in the trailer, and this title sequency-looking image of the show title that we saw at the end of the trailer.

Ah yes, I meant to comment on that. I like the eye logo but I'm not convinced I like the possible title sequence image. Which I suppose is rather odd of me. I think the word "Unfortunate" looks strangely thin to me.

I'm curious if, for the sake of the adaptation, whether the making of the TV series will be frequently referenced by Lemony Snicket in the same way that he discusses the struggles of writing ASOUE within the books. It would be great to see him arguing with producers about whether certain scenes are "appropriate" for viewers.

The thing I am now looking forward to will be Lemony telling each viewer to stop watching the episodes or binging the show if you want a happy ending.
