Dear Reader,
Allow me to introduce myself, I am known as K, the first letter of my four letter first name for security and safety in this treacherous world I feel it necessary only to introduce myself by my first initial. I am 23 years old and have been a long time fan of Mr. Snicket's account of the Baudelaire's unfortunate lives and with the release of the Netflix series old flames have been rekindled, flames that we're never quite extinguished. My love for Snicket's world has lead me on some very interesting adventures which always lead to some very fascinating discoveries. When I was in the 6th grade many years ago my fellow Snicket fans (now associates) formed our own local chapter of the noble VFD, it started out merely as a book club in which we took notes, compared notes, and tried our best to solve the many mysteries that surrounded the Baudelaire orphans. But since then it has grown into something more realistic and true to the heart of VFD. A couple years ago a series of unfortunate and highly suspicious fires were set in our town destroying several people's homes and displacing them, a phrase which here means left with no sanctuary to call their own and feeling rather unsafe in this world full of treachery. The local official fire departments and even the Volunteer Fire Department were highly unhelpful and unable to investigate the fires properly so I and my 13 associates did the unthinkable for our age, meeting under the cover of night to investigate, we found many things that were never noticed by the police, OFD, and 'VFD'. We took our evidence to people who actually cared and a week later the culprits were apprehended. Since then we have sworn our lives to this wonderful and noble cause and it has carried us to unbelievable locations. Recently in the wake of the fires which consumed Gatlinburg, Tennessee my associates and I were all too excited to 'volunteer' many of us having become fire fighters since the fires in our own town, not only did becoming a fire fighters help my colleagues and I get into the middle of the action it also helped us to be able to investigate the fires which as we had guessed from the very beginning were in fact arson and not a simple brush fire which got out of control. We worked closely with the Gatlinburg VFD and was there when the tools used to start the fires were discovered. It's worth noting that even the hottest fire can not destroy fingerprints and DNA which lead directly to the capture of several culprits although more were involved it's been difficult to find them although we do expect that they went down the road less traveled which in this case would be somewhere deep in the rough terrain of the Appalachian mountains.
For my colleagues and I, VFD is not an organization that requires a leader, together we fight for the same cause, together we put out fires, and together we try to make the world a better place. We would love to see our organization grow, you may think you are unable to do anything and that's just what our enemies want you to think. If you had told me several years ago that my friends and I were going to become actual fire fighters and make VFD a real thing in our lives we all would have laughed at you but now that the fantasy has become reality I couldn't be happier, serving the community in such an awesome capacity is simply amazing. If you would like to know more or simply discuss Mr. Snicket's work please feel free to get in touch through the appropriate channels.
With all due respect,
K
P. S. I owe so much to Daniel Handler who has been such a major influence in my life, had I never opened A Series of Unfortunate Events I might not be sharing my experiences with you today.
