Hi there Volunteers! I have just joined after discovering this sight recently, but it seems that the world is quiet here, a phrase which here means, not much activity. Is there any reason for this?

Welcome to 667, kingarthur! Activity fluctuates a lot here. Forums are not "in" lately, and the new generation of teenagers and kids prefer other places like social media to communicate. Most of us are over 20 y.o. and as such we have to work and do adult stuff so we don't have much time to spend here, but as Quisby said, we still have a lot of stuff going on! Summer (July/August) and part of winter (December) are usually the moments of higher activity, with contests, games, etc Hope you stick around!

I don't mind! I discovered the series through the Netflix show, and I then started reading the books. I have almost finished TPP at the moment.

Hi Kingarthur! As the others say, activity here can be a bit slow most of the time, but there's still things going on, even in the off-season. When the new season was released a few weeks ago, we had the upsurge you might expect - most of our activity is centred around external news like that.
Please tell us what you thought of the books and the show! Having grown up with the books, I'm sure most of us here have a very different perspective on both than someone who discovered the series through the show. I know I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on them!
Hope you'll like it here, and that you'll stick around until the next time discussion takes speed!

I think S2 was better than S1, which is a significant achievement! My favourite episodes in S1 were TMM and in S2 either TAA, TEE or TCC.
As for books, I have completed TAA, TSS and TGG. TAA and TSS were very good, with TAA just edging out TSS as my favourite. I thought TGG wasn't as good as I expected, but so far TPP is as good as I though it would be.
My favourite characters in the books are the Quagmires, but in the show I think that NPH's performance is stellar and the musical numbers make Olaf my favourite character in the show.
I have also watched the film but it was a bit lacklustre, and not as good as the show or the series.

I agree! S1 was a dream come true, simply for being a better adaptation than the movie, with a promise of more to come. But S2 topped it in so many aspects. My personal favourite was actually THH, but I honestly thought all of the episodes were wonderful.
Oh - if I understand you right, you're not reading the books in order? I'd strongly recommend starting at TBB and reading them in order; they may be a bit formulaic, but there is a progression to the story that I personally think is better experienced that way. Even if you already know the basic plot from the show.
I think a lot of fans would agree that 'lacklustre' is a good word to describe the movie. There are aspects of it that I like, but the show is a far better adaptation as far as I'm concerned.

I started at TSS mainly because I wanted to find out what happened at the end. I read TAA a few months ago. After I've finished TE, I'll read from TBB to TCC.

Well, that makes sense. I can see why you'd want to find out immediately what happened after that cliffhanger. I did, and I already knew!

I've just finished The End. I think that 10, 12 and 13 are all very good but 10 8s the best followed by 12 and 13.
If I had to rate the books I've read so far, I would do it like this:
TAA - 9.3/10 TSS - 9.1/10 TGG - 7.4/10 TPP - 8.9/10 TE - 8.7/10
