Best Profile Decoration is a rather frustrating award, because the work it is for disappears so quickly, sometimes even before the vote. It's interesting that its original description, written before the ProBoards 'upgrade', mentioned location as one of the components - public locations have long since gone.
In its first year, 2012, the award was won by Nominatissima, whose signature, a very beautiful picture of an island, I remember to this day. It had a mediaeval look to it, but was in fact by a living artist, Remedios Varo. It gained fourteen votes, a reminder of the days when there were more than three people at 667. I cannot at all remember what Lucas won with in 2013, but fortunately Bryan in his speech gave the entries names, and this was called 'CatFrog (like CatDog but not)', which I'm sure will be very illuminating to those familiar with such things.
Since then, the award has been dominated by two people, Bandit/Bear of the sharks, rabbits and bears, and Terry of the improbable names and spectacles. The exception is 2017 when Comet won for being a comet.
Best Organis/zer produces much debate about how to spell it (but -izer is legitimate in British English, whatever anyone may tell you). It was introduced to honour an important kind of contribution to 667 which had often gone unappreciated. Sadly we have fewer organised events nowadays, and while this year's winner, Zortegus, certainly deserves this award for reviving the Zorties, I think it would be a bit depressing if it went to the awards organiser every time from now on.
It has gone to a number of people for a number of achievements - first to our beloved Linda for 667's tenth anniversary, then to Linda again for Big Brother; other winners include Cupid for being Cupid, Anka for the Advent Calendar, Mister M for the 667er and the chatroom, and Zortegus for Linda's memorial and the Allan Arkush interview. Come on people, organise things!

Hey, I also organized the interview to Joe Tracz this year! That's how unappreciated my contributions are.

Hey, I also organized the interview to Joe Tracz this year! That's how unappreciated my contributions are. People other than Zortegus, organise things! (But your nomination only mentioned the awards.)

I'm hoping to revive this thread. Christmas Chief , could it be moved to a more suitable board? Before I go on to awards not covered before, I'll bring the awards I've already covered up to date. The Special Award has continued to reflect the times, perhaps more effectively than in some past years, and as a result has had two of its most successful years. Last year it reflected the COVID crisis, with 'Best Potential Quarantine bBddy', won, of course, by our dear leader Sherry Ann. This year it was 'Ghastliest Gamer', reflecting the massive revival of games, which had been a major event of the year; though the competition was rather one-sided, with the central figure in this revival, Jean Lucio, winning by a landslide. Best Thread also continues to act as a barometer of the state of the site. Last year it went to two threads which related to the COVID crisis, '667 in the Time of COVID-19', and one of the oldest threads on the site, 'Feel Free to Post Whatever You Like Thread', which experienced a revival as a place to discuss current events. This year, however, a Snicket thread won again, the advance discussion thread for Poison for Breakfast, revealing the turn back towards Snicket which often happens when a new work of Lemony's is on the horizon. Best Writing maintains its balance between Snicketfic and 667fic. Last year's winner, The Luckiest Kids in the World, by Foxy, is perhaps not strictly a Snicketfic, as it does not actually use characters (except possibly one) or settings from Lemony's world; but it seems to be a book that might have existed within that world. This year's winner, on the other hand, T he Mystery of the Disppearing 667ers, by Sherry Ann, is classic 667fic, the first such work for some time. Best Artist continues to be won by brilliant artists. In Best Profile Decoration, Willis has broek the dominance of the Bear-Terry faction, winning twice with pictures of lamps. In a rather new development, Best Pairing has been won both years by pairs of debaters in the Snicket sections. (However, it's been confirmed that the award has in fact been won three times by romantic pairings, not just two as previously reported.) Finally Best Organiser has continued to be won by the awards organiser, Germes last year and Dante this year, but this year he has a co-winner, Sherry Ann as admin, and hence organiser of the whole site. It's striking that no admin has received this award before now. There has been more serious competition for the award this year, and we hope that in future it will be won for a wider variety of achievements.

When you come to think of it, 667fic is an odd thing. Does any other site have a tradition of fanfic about its own members? Yes, I have to assume that this is very weird, especially when you think of all the conditions that must be in place for such writing to exist. I cannot at all remember what Lucas won with in 2013, but fortunately Bryan in his speech gave the entries names, and this was called 'CatFrog (like CatDog but not)', which I'm sure will be very illuminating to those familiar with such things. In fact, I preserved his signature and avatar in my banner for him this year, which I'll also be posting in the banner archive eventually: His signature was the "Why So Serious?" rectangles and his avatar was, indeed, the CatFrog. Looking forward to your future comments, Hermes; I hope this is in the section you had in mind.

The award for the member most devoted to the works of Lemony Snicket has had a number of names over the years. Originally it was called Most Unfortunate (because of A Series of Unfortunate Events), a name that was rather confusing to the outsider. In 2013, the arrival of ATWQ meant that we were no longer purely concerned with ASOUE, and so the award was renamed Most Lemony, a title designed to cover all Lemony's works; but this led to much discontent, and in 2015 it was renamed again, to Best Volunteer, a name that seems to have proved generally satisfactory, though one notable current member may not be altogether happy with it. Various other names were proposed at the time of the latest change, including Most SAD (Serious and Devoted).
Although 'devoted' in principle covers many things - for instance Lemona was sometimes nominated for the award on account of the beautifully Lemony style of her writings - in practice the award is always given to people involved in Snicketologial discussions.
Regarding winners, the history of the award is divided sharply into two eras. From 2008 to 2013 it was always won by Dante, our resident expert and Snicketogical authority. In 2014 this run was dramatically borken, when another Snicketologist, of great antiquity, won the award, and since then it has been more widely shared, with winners including literary critic Moseymoo, archivist and allusion expert Terry Craig, film and Netflix experts Ryan Trimble and Gothicarchisfan, and theorist Jean Lucio (also Dante, once more, as a joint winner). Despite this, the belief that Dante always won continued to be widespread long after it ceased to be true, and one of the proposals in 2015 was that it be named 'Most Dante'. Now, following Dante's retirement, it has indeed been named in his honour, as the Dante Award for Best Volunteer, the second award to be dedicated to an individual's memory - others may follow,

Oh... I admire the Sherry Ann person... But "great friends" must be a title given to a stronger and older relationship, which I still don't have with anyone around here...
