March is here, and that means the NCAA Basketball tournament, aka March Madness is also here. In the past we've done the bracket challenge and so I'm bringing it back this year for anyone interested.
FAQs
Do I need to know anything about basketball? - No! March Madness being a single elimination tournament makes upsets fairly common especially in the first round, so novices can easily finish better than experts.
If I don't know anything about basketball then how do I know who to pick? - Each matchup is seeded so picking the higher seeded team will be a decent bet most of the time, but it's more fun to throw a few upsets in there. If you want to do a little research there's several projection algorithms that rank teams based solely on stats so you can see if anyone is possibly over or under rated. barttorvik Net rankings kenpom
What if I dont want to do any research or think about basketball at all? - You can make picks based on anything. Best uniform colors. Funniest name (Gonzaga is a top seed in that tournament as well). Mascot names (I'm partial to the North Texas Mean Green and the Purdue Boilermakers) Whatever you want.
Whats in it for me? - You can beat me, Willis, at something that I care far more about than I should and have bragging rights over me forever.
Anyways, here's the link to the group. You have until Friday noon ET to fill it out. If you have any questions about anything, including actual basketball questions, I would be happy to answer any and all. I hope to see you there, and happy March Madness!
