Where are you from, twiggy? I think I always assumed American but I guess you aren't I am 3/4 aussie and 1/4 chinese I guessed Australia when I saw your comment on lockdowns. Australia is a great Snickety nation, rivalling Brazil: Aussies won the unofficial award for Best Group in 2015.

My unpopular opinion about food may not be understood by many because I am Brazilian. ( TheAsh don't read this. It will look like a list of what not to eat and I don't want to offend you) So: I like jiló, which is a bitter vegetable. Most of my countrymen don't like it, but I really do. I like raw oysters, with a little salt and lemon. A lot of my countrymen don't even try to eat it. I like fried pork tripe. This is not a very common dish in my country, but in the region where I grew up it's a dish that some people like and others don't. I'm one of those who likes it. I like ground beef lung cooked with dried shrimp and chestnuts, a dish called xinxim de bofe. It's really delicious, but most of my countrymen simply dismiss the idea of eating oxen's lungs. I like sarapatel as long as it is prepared without blood. Sarapatel is a dish that also uses pork intestines, but is chopped and cooked together with various spices. I like cooked gaiamun (blue land crab), although many of my countrymen are a little disgusted with it, because there is a legend that these animals feed on corpses. I simply ask, "but most carnivorous animals would feed on corpses, wouldn't they?" I really like chicken gizzards cooked with potatoes. I like beef bone soup. It's hard to say a food I don't really like. But there's something that's very popular around here but I'm a little bothered, not because of the taste: boiled or fried fish. I like the taste, but in general bones bother me a lot. Sometimes they last in my mouth or throat. It takes a lot of patience to look at every little piece of fish before eating, and analyze for any residual bones, and then remove them manually. On the other hand, I really like salmon sachimi (which is something my countrymen wouldn't eat because it's raw fish).

I agree with Bee's OP third point, that "Burgers, ice cream, and brownies" are overrated, although ice cream can be really nice in Summer... on a hot day, I might disagree with Bee there. I actually don't care for brownies at all. And that's because my unpopular food opinion is that pure chocolate is way overrated. I only like chocolate when it's a part of something else, like raisins or cookies. Sometimes I like some refrigerated bitter chocolate, but I could go easily without it.
As for spicing up oatmeal, I prefer bits of dried fruit (especially berries) to anything else.
