I realised I didn't listen to enough new music last year, so I've decided to set myself the challenge of listening to 52 albums this year (They don't neccesarially have to be new albums (though I'm sure lots will be), I just need to have never heard them before) and post my thoughts here.
Music snobs stay out pls.
My taste in music is quite eclectic so I'm sure we will hop around to quite a few genres over the next year, though the first few will definitley all be the same kind of feel, though thats simply due to them being the newer releases, so i'll try to vary it up more later on.
First Up : AURORA - The Gods We Can Touch

1/52 - AURORA - The Gods We Can Touch
Top Three Tracks : Cure For Me, Blood in the Wine, Heathans You Can Skip : Everything Matters, You Keep Me Crawling
This third album from AURORA is good, though with 15 songs her dreamlike ethereal vocals can be a tad repetivie. She just simply has such a great voice to listen to though, though her lyrics are a bit to random for my liking sometimes. I like the almost Madonna-esque club sound of Cure For Me a lot, and I enjoyed a lot of percussion on some of the later songs as well. Overall I'd say this has been my favourite album of hers for showing a bit more variety. 7.5/10
Next : Mitski - Laurel Hell

I enjoyed hearing this from the next room, it inspired me to do some probably very weird dancing.

2/52 Mitski - Laurel Hell
Top Three Tracks : Working for the Knife, Heat Lightening, The Only Heartbreaker You Can Skip : Valentine, Teaxs, Stay Soft
Overall I was dissapoitned by this album, but that's only because other Mitski offering have been so good. Overall I felt this lacked the bite and lyrically immediacy that I love about Mitski, and although I enjoyed every track nothing massively stood out. Also the reange of instrumentation felt much smaller than in previous occasions. 6/10
Next : Baby Queen - The Yearbook

3/52 Baby Queen - The Yearbook
Top Three Tracks : Narcissist, Dover Beach, I'm A Mess You Can Skip : American Dream
Now this I really enjoyed. Like a more beefed up Lorde mixed with Charli XCX. Typical mopey young-person lyrics about the angstyness of growing up is no bad thing, especially when mixed with great music and copious amounts of swearing. I imagine willis would enjoy this for some reason. 9/10
Next : Hozier - Wasteland, Baby!
