well, obviously i like all the books quite a bit... but... BY FAR, my FAVOURITE is THE ERSATZ ELEVATOR.
It is very witty and extremely dark. I love Esme and have met people just like her...The elevator shaft was so cool and with the Quagmires in distress, this story was really exciting and had a few good twists to it that had me shouting with joy.
My lest favourite is The Miserable Mill. It was basically a by the numbers rehash of the others, and it was where the standard kids move, olaf in disguise etc. formula started to get stale... thank god that TAA spiced things up by adding the Quagmires and more ongoing themes, plot lines etc.
Here's to hoping that TCC will be near the top of my list!
MATT
p.s. I would kill, literally, to be able to make THE ERSATZ ELEVATOR into a movie...

I have a teacher who looks JUST LIKE Esme (well, at least the way i pictured Esme)... I sit there in class sometimes just looking at her and laughing my head off, cause she is just like Esme... no one in the class understands what is so funny, but that's part of the fun!

Tragedy, not to bring up painful memories or feelings or anything, but I thought Esme betrayed you.
