Thanks, Grey.
As for the motive, I don't think it was an alternate personality, it was just a mask; there was no malevolence behind it, more like, curiosity and rebelliousness. I for one have always wanted to do something like this, except perhaps a little less tyrannical and evil.

Wow, that was a shock. Not so much from J., but Ennui, Linda and Peej. Hmm. I personally don't really care much, as I didn't get very involved in the whole ordeal, but I'm quite angry on Akbar's behalf. He seems to have been pretty openly targeted more than any other member and I just don't think that's fair, especially when it's in an appreciation thread. Yes, Best was taken too far.

Oh, come on, was it REALLY that shocking with me? I'm the type of guy to make another account. Remember Dave? Like I said, if I had done something, it would have been different, but I'm not exactly the LAST person you'd suspect. But yeah, I agree, we seemed to pick on Akbar a bit too much... Perhaps because he was so vehement about us, but still.

Whether it was expected or not has very little relevance. Now I could side with you by saying it was sll in good fun and no one was hurt, but the fact is people obviously were. I preffered the way the downfall of Guidecca was handled, one day of fun, then a month of letting the forum cool down. It is at least noble of you to come forward now but perhaps it will create more trouble than it's worth.

I guess our biggest flaw was that we didn't expect the extent of the damage we caused, and for that, I am truly sorry, for it has caused a great heap of unpleasantness for us all

I don't understand why any of you did this. I don't see how this was a joke. I feel very betrayed and you haven't done anything to me. How could you treat another member of a forum you allegedly adore so poorly?
I'll forgive you if Akbar does. I'm just really confused and upset at the moment. I'm sure you didn't mean anything by it, but still...this seems pretty terrible. Death threats? Well...it's probably some form of satire I haven't grasped yet.

I have noticed this "bestofthebest".....thingy, and I was surprised that it was actually just a joke, and that four of our most respected and liked members were behind it. While this revelation was quite unexpected by me, I don't feel angry at anyone about this. I just felt like saying that, not to stick my nose into other people's business. But it did go too far, and I don't think Akbar deserved to be treated that way.

Well, I am most certainly surprised (for at least two) at who was behind this. I dont really know if I am angry, more disturbed. Rather disappointed as well, I suppose. I don't see how it qualified as a joke, especially towards the 'end'. I also agree with Alice.

What I find most amusing is that PJ and Ennui were arguing with themselves...
Although, the rest of this really isn't amusing. PJ was saying how a warning was a bit harsh, but I personally believed it was a fitting--if not lighter than it should have been--punishment. I almost moved two of those threads into MM, as they weren't fitting in my board, but I wanted to keep an eye on 'best.' I am very surprised that Linda would pull something like this, and it was most unexpected. For PJ, J., and Ennui (although I don't know J and Ennui as much as PJ) it wasn't much of a surprise for me. I think that the picking on Akbar was taken a little to far with the 'Liam luvr' thing or whatever. I do think that each of the offenders should get an equal punishment, as PJ said, but there wont be much of a 667er left, although I'd be willing to write an article if needed to fill-in for the offenders.
In conclusion, Best was just taken out of hand, and should have been stopped by the noble-r of the four.

What? I had no idea there was 4 people playing Best. Well I'm not bothered by this, in fact I found it quite amusing and a great time killer. I guess wether your angry or not depends on your approach. If you took it as a joke you would take the insults light-heartedly, if you took it seriously the insults could really hurt. Although I think it got a bit out of hand picking on the newcomers.

In conclusion, Best was just taken out of hand, and should have been stopped by the noble-r of the four. In our defence, I must say that it was all rather confused; I live in Australia, Ennui lives in England, and J. and Linda live in America, so we were all on at different times, so it was kind of hard to control what each of us did, because by the time we had read of what the others wrote, it was far too late to delete the posts, or modify them, or anything like that. Also, had you guys actually made a thread of protest, I'm pretty certain we would have stopped. I mean, sure, there was a lot of posts arguing against us and all that, heck, there was even the whole lowest of the low thing, and then the Rambunctious Rebels, but that was all sort of part of the game, it wasn't really a serious cry of offense. Akbar did the 50 Hitler Post, which is hardly a serious form of protest. Had you guys made a thread, saying that it was getting out of hand, and that it was annoying, we would have stopped. Or, at least, I would have stopped. I can't speak for the other three. So while I do agree, in those last few hours we started to pick on Akbar, you all didn't react all that outraged, so you can hardly go completely dissapointed on us now. That said, we are still at fault, though not entirely. Edit: What? I had no idea there was 4 people playing Best. Well I'm not bothered by this, in fact I found it quite amusing and a great time killer. I guess wether your angry or not depends on your approach. If you took it as a joke you would take the insults light-heartedly, if you took it seriously the insults could really hurt. Although I think it got a bit out of hand picking on the newcomers. See what I mean? Some members stil treated it as a game, so we kept on playing, whilst others might have made a few isolated protests, which wasn't enough for us to stop.

Well the four people playing the same account explains how Best managed to be online almost every hour of the day. I was confused by that before

Come to think of it, Best was right in that he/she couldn't really be called male nor female
