I think that The Best Of The Best has taken it too far; what had started out as a harmless joke has ended up annoying and insulting to several members.
A joke is something that is deliberatley humourous.
An joke is not a joke when it offends people, and this joke has gotten out of hand, I feel.
But it could all easily be stopped, because I know exactly who the Best Of The Best is. How do I know? It's a secret. But I could easily spoil who it is and it could be over.
I'm not going to do that; I think the people should come and reveal themselves.

Who I am, ingrate, is no secret.
I am every little hypocrisy, every bit of self-righteousness, every scrap of false pride that has swarmed within your bosom, made incarnate. I am the unseemly barbs you bandied with the equally insipid citizens of UE. I am every insult you ever hurled at spammer or at "Intellecteer". I am satire.
Who is writing me is immaterial. That is what I am.

But I know who's writing you as well. And I thought they were a lot cooler than that; it's like they've reached an all-time low by creating you. Are you the insults they could not bring to say themselves? Are you the rude they didn't want to show?
Because they've definatley gone down in my estimations, which is a shame because I thought they were one of the coolest members on the forum. And the person I'm talking about it not the several people who have joined them, but the member who started it themselves.

Well let's go! I also agree that this has gone to far, though I have not yet had anything to do with it. It's getting rather disturbing.

You are beginning to understand.
None of those who thought themselves "Best" are now in control of the account. Not the founder either. This experiment has been played to its conclusion. Everyone involved is degraded and humbled.
You are all monsters staring from the abyss. Contemptible, desperate, but in the end, human. I hope you choose to learn this lesson.
Farewell.

Oh wow. We have learned our lesson. Thankyou, O great people, who are intelligent enough to teach the rest of us bears. We know who are we are and what we are, and I'm sorry to who-ever is writing this account, but we don't need you to tell us who we are.

I think one of the people it is should be obvious, if you simply compare signitures.

Indeed. I am also, as far as I know, one of a relatively small number of 667ers with a comprehensive grasp of Horatian odes.

Well the account has gone now, thank goodness.

By my hand, I suppose I ought to add.

I guess I'd better confess too. I was actually the one that made the Best account. I feel responsible for it all, even though I'm not the only one who posted under Best's name. If I happened to offend anyone, I'm really, really sorry. It started off as a joke, and just sort of spiraled off into oblivion.
And the others will remain anonymous unless they wish to come forward.

You sicken and disgust me. I thought you were one of the best, sweetest, nicest 667ers. I was proved wrong. Boy, was I proved wrong. You are hereby on suspension from The 667er until I choose to allow you back.

Yeah. Um. Hi. Sorry it went too far. Dupin, were you "Iknowwhatshedid"? I found thebest enjoyable satire, and I, for one, am impressed with Linda's satirical-false-account-making skills. Anyway, Dupin, if all of us come out of the closet, will you tell us how you figured out who we were?

Akbar, you're an arrogant, Puritan little insect.
Ah, this is good. So good.
Oh, and Akbar says Linda confessed to Dupin.
But Linda says X confessed to Dupin.
Either way, Dupin gets the Sir Francis Walsingham award for being a nosy, officious spoilsport. Hurrah.

You sicken and disgust me. I thought you were one of the best, sweetest, nicest 667ers. I was proved wrong. Boy, was I proved wrong. Oh dear, I was afraid this would happen. Akbar, I'm really sorry. The mean things that Best posted are not what I feel about 667, and they're not what Ennui or any of the others (who will remain anonymous, like I said) feel at all. It was a joke that got out of hand. I have no idea who it was that kept posting all that mean stuff about you, but even though it wasn't me, I still feel terrible. Consience is a strange thing. If I had chosen not to confess, I could have avoided all this, but been torn up inside. Now, even though you may hate me, Akbar, I know it's better this way.
