Hallo all, I’m flying across the pond this Thursday, to spend 3 weeks with a friend. She lives in LA, so that’s where I’ll be based, but we’re going to travel round a bit, hopefully visit San Francisco (!!) and mayyybe even fly over to NYC (she does modelling work & might have a gig over there).
We have loads of stuff planned of course, but I was just wondering if any of you are familiar with California or NYC and if so, if you have any recommendations for things to do/places to see?

The redwoods are on my list! I’ve seen them once before but I was like, 10, so I’m very exited to see them again.
Interesting about Booksmith; I read an interview where he said his favourite was Green Apple Books. So what IS the truth? I’ll try and visit both. And I want to go to the seashore and read the relevant part of Poison for Breakfast.
Feel free to let me know if you are around but also like, don’t do anything dangerous; not to sound like too much of a boring adult but you’re a teenager & Idk how your family would feel about you hiking to meet me lol

the most obvious MUSTs in NYC are
the met
the natural history museum
the strand bookstore
and, whether in CA or NY, i recommend going to see a Major League Baseball game.
i've been to NYC several times but am having a hard time remembering what i even did. honestly the best part is just walking around randomly.

I highly recommend the Sierras and Arcata. Also if you find yourself in San Francisco you should check out Alcatraz and Chinatown, and since you're staying in LA you need to go to Universal Studios.

Yes, we're planning to do Disneyland, Universal, and Six Flags; basically a crash course in making up for a childhood severely deprived of rollercoasters lol
