For your information:
Monday 20th - Theme : Really Cool Members
Tuesday 21st - Theme : Drag Queens
Wednesday 22nd - Theme : Favorite 667ers
Thursday 23rd - Theme : Lemony Snicket Character
Friday 24th - Theme : Animals
Saturday 25th - Anniversary Ball
Sunday 26th - Anniversary Ball + After party (Zoom meeting, time TBC)
The theme days involve changing your profile picture to match the theme, and can also involve impersonating someone else. The more in-depth/in-character the better. The ball works a bit differently- I'll try and dig up the old thread from ten years ago and see if I can link to it to give people an idea. This was all pretty much proposed by MisterM, with Zort saying we should have the zoom sunday I think.
We also have WSW, a cover design consent, the 667 Apprentice, and a VFD Door competition ongoing. The first two will/have been explained by the organisers, but I'll mention the rules of the VFD Door for newer members.
The VFD Door is a game historically created by Hermedy to select a new admin first back in 2006, and then as a competition in 2008 and 2016 (I think). It is a password-protected board, with a clue posted in the board description. Please note, for the sake of tradition all the passwords will be related to ASOUE only and not to do with ATWQ, any other Daniel Handler books or the Netflix series. As the first to figure out the password, you then need to post a thread claiming victory of the round. The clues work something like this:
Eg. "I know not all that may be coming, but be it what it will, I'll go to it laughing"
Googling this phrase, you'd find it is from Herman Melville's Moby Dick. The famous opening lines of the book are 'Call me Ishmael.' Ishmael is a character from the final book in ASOUE, and in this case (for example) Ishmael is the password. Passwords are often case-sensitive, and sometimes more tenuous links than that. Usually the 'moderator' assigned to the board will help with a hint in some way although the username choices are limited, so sometimes it may just be related to the initial clue.
Any questions, post them here.
