I've recently shown my mom and my sister the first three episodes of the show, and I felt like posting their reactions. They never saw the movie or read the books, so this is a complete mystery to them. Here is what they said, in no real order.
Mr. Poe probably has Covid.
The "parents" aren't wearing clothes for sitting around at home. This is a major clue that I never realized, so well done.
"Is that the eye you showed me with those letters in it?" -My sister
My dad was passing by around the joke about what Puttanesca means in Italian and chuckled. He couldn't even explain why because my sister was there.
My sister thought Reptile Room was the scariest, because Monty not knowing who Olaf was was scary. I've got some bad news for you...
