so the time has come for me to depart from my abode
i'm living in a converted warehouse illegally rezoned out of light industrial (it's supposed to be business with some residential use, now mostly residential). sydney is in an affordable housing crisis (not as bad as dublin but still), we don't have a written lease, lots of mould due to australian floods, and lots of repairs needed.
my landlord is also a very odd man who is an electrical engineer that shoots laser beams up in the sky to make more rain. he does have a turquoise convertible though, which is very ken-coded.
i'm moving house on saturday to a new place which has a really cheesy kitchen, but the bedrooms all have legal floor height and ventilation - so a lot more liveable.
i. what is your best landlord story ? ii. any ideas to spruce up a kitchen ? i want to get peel and stick floor tiles to make it chequerboard

my landlord is a company so i don't have any landlord lore, but my mom was a landlady so i have some tenant tales.
we had an apartment in the basement in my childhood home and rented it out. there was a cool college student down there when i was about 5, whom i called Jesse Tables. idk what his real name was.
for a long time there was an old lady who was nice enough but she was terrified of bugs... and it was a basement, with woods in the backyard... so she would call my mom any time she saw a bug, and mom would have to go downstairs and kill it. one time she went down and found dozens of tissues lying around the apartment, covering the places where the old lady had seen a bug.
there were a lot of crickets though. my brother lived down there for a while, and he got in the habit of smashing the crickets with a Nightmare Before Christmas book-end from Hot Topic. at some point he wrote "Cricket Smasher" on the bottom of it.

My best landlord lore is from when I was a student 5 years ago, we lived in a historic tenement in Edinburgh's old town and the building had intermittent running water due to being on the top floor. We spent 6+ months chasing them up about fixing this, including legal action, for a fix that ultimately took less than a day to action.
In other news: I am about to become a landlord.

Imagine the kinds of landlord lore that Bee's tenants would have.

my best/worst landlord story is how i had to contact the OMBUDSMAN to get my deposit back. after i moved out when i contacted my landlord about it he literally pretended not to hear me on the phone even when i cussed him out at the third call. (obviously e-mails were ignored as well.)
