I've been noticing an excessive amount of profanity in MM lately. According to the decrees, profanity is NOT allowed, and the use of it will result in a strike/warning. I'm handing out warnings for now, but after today, anyone using profanity will recive a strike.
You need to remember that this is a forum that children also use (notice that the forum is a site for Asoue, a series which a lot of children read).
All in all, profanity is not to be used in this section.
To clearify: Profanity in this section is considered you basic curse words: the f-word, sh**, a**, bi**h,) Hell and damn I will let slide for now unless Tragedy says otherwise.
Sexually suggestive talk is considered to be profane. I don't mind people saying things like bisexual (generally, those discussions belong in DDiscussion and NEED to be kept to an absolute minimum) or such as long as it isn't in a sexually suggestive manner (such as talking about screwing two people because your bisexual). That stuff isn't appropraiate on the board let alone in MMisc.
I don't want to hear that I'm a homophobe for that either, seeing as that is one thing I am definitley not. Go see the thread about homosexuality in DDisc if you need more clarification.

I don't believe in swears. I believe that all words are created equal. So, by not allowing me to use those words, you're challenging my beliefs. I don't appreciate that.
Also, if children are coming here, I think you should be focusing on finding them and having them be banned for registering under a false age in order to overcome a security feature that is in place to protect them, rather than being a Nazi about stopping people from swearing in order to protect these underage members from learning swears.

All in all, the rule is in the decrees. I'm not personally against swearing, and as Shruti said, that is something that will help the site become affiliated. I'm not being a Nazi, or trying to protect children. It's a rule in the decrees, and I'm enforcing it. There is no reason for swearing on the board.
Also, I'm not talking about words like suck and crap. I'm talking about actual swear words and profanity.

Just to keep things uniform, how to do we censor ourselves? Are we going with A$$, A**, (CENSORED), or a silly placeholder like "pants"?

Placeholders and (CENSORDS) are preferred. I'm not going to give out warnings or strikes for things like a**, though.

I'd like to know why people consider certain words to be swears. Did some people get together one weekend for tea and go, "Okay. Let's have the following words be naughty and not allow people to use them... Let's also have the middle finger represent one of these words when it is sticking up straight by itself."?

One time I posted a quote that had a swear in it and he gave me warning.

Sometimes he's just jerk-like.

He just doesn't like you.
I know that this question -- much like Tri-sexual's question about what "sh*t" did to be considered "naughty" -- is overdone, but still: why is "a**" okay but not "a**"? Because they mean the same thing.

Like when he banned me for two weeks, but turned it into two months, because I kept coming back on proxy servers.

Because they mean the same thing. As I said before. I really would prefer the use of fillers, I don't want to be overbearing and mean about it, so I'm letting that slide. I thought it would be appreciated.

I think that because we're having a mature discussion of the profanity issue, it's best to use the words in full to prevent confusion. "A**" could be any number of three-letter words beginning with A, such as "and," "ask," "apt," .

Well, in that case, let's just stick to alternate words and (censor)s.
