Don't forget the librarian in LSTUA who asks if you've been good to your mother.

Duncan and Isadora didn't mention escaping the fire in TAA, only that the fire killed their parents and their brother. Maybe they weren't home that day? Or they were in a front room?

*pictures Duncan and Isadora jumping out of a burning mansion* Um...that reminds me too much of a cheap action movie. Yeah, probably not home.

ya i just read the part. unless quigley was lying. also, do you really think ducan & isadora would just leave thier brother to study his maps while they do something supposedly fun? that seems kind of mean.

That's what I get for supposing without the book to hand instead of reading the source material. TSS, page 159, does indeed say that Quigley was studying a map of the Finite Forest, heard glass shatter, people shouted, mom came in to get Quigley, they couldn't get out, mom puts him through the trap door, he listens to the house falling to pieces, frantic footsteps, and the screams of his siblings. TSS, page 239, is where Quigley says "I never thought of learning about maps as training. I just liked it." So yes, I do think Duncan and Isadora would leave Quigley to his fun while they did something else.

He was studying his maps, so maybe isadora was with her poetry teacher, and duncan was...researching?

i think that they just left quigley alone, yeah...they were...doing homework or something. o.o and why not jump out of burning mansion? i can see that...they jump out of window of library and land in bushes and roll off and jump up and run around and look for quigley because they think he's outside and then they realize he's not and YES THIS IS MY FANFIC sorry.
*pictures duncan drinking brandy and playing with matches* haha.
