Volunteer Fire Departmentt- hence the 7th books illustration on one of the chapters, the one with the notebook pages. It has Fire Department written on some of them, look closely.

The Quagmire parents were in it, anyways, because it mentions them in TUA, and that their house had the green wood. Whether the children were in it or not is debatable.

It's DEPARTENT. Supposedly, anyway. They'res no evidence indicating it is detectives. However, loads of evidence supports department.  |

We know Lemony & Beatrice are in it
We Know Olaf was in it. But after the schism he left.
We know Lulu was in VFD

I'm excellent at collecting evidence and I agree with VFD master, it's detectives, go to J's Deletriousness thread in the Sardonic Series to read more...
The Quagmires were in it, because Quigley in tss says that Jacques said his parents were in VFD.
9) They like the color green(Hector's balloon, green lumber)
10) Hector, Esme, Olaf, Lulu, Bauds, Quags, Jacques, Lemony, K, Gustav+Sally Sebald, Duchess of Winnipeg, Beatrice, Man with bbnh, woman whbnb, Ike possibly taxi driver, Larry, Charles, Justice Strauss, Monty were in it.
11) Prufrock might have been a training school for it.
12) They drag in new members by their ankles.
13) They like black cars.
14) They ADORE reading, HATE arson, they like the greater good.
15) They use animals to help them out, but these were split during the schism. Trained reptiles WERE with Monty, yet stolen by Olaf, except for Mamba, and incredibly deadly viper. Eagles and Felines are with bad guys, but the carrier crows(VFD village crows?) are with good guys.
16) They use plenty of disguises, sugarbowls, and secret coding message techniques(sebald code, "I didn't realize this was a sad occassion, have u been good to ur mother, etc..."

I was thinking about the VFD in the car ride home from Philly. I was thinking that maybe there are separate VFD organizations. The Olaf and Jaques one could be Very Finery Disguises and the Olaf parents and Quagmire parents one could be the Volunteer one. I think this because the Count Olaf and Jaques Snicket have tattoos of eyes on their inner left ankles and the Baudelaire parents don't but they are all VFD members but the eye is most definately a VFD insignia...

Um noo. Jacques and Olaf were on completely opposite sides, reflect, Olaf is the one that MURDERED poor Jacques!!!! Lemony has a tattoo as well and the disguise was just a name of disguise not the organization. Olaf and co aren't even really considering themselves to be in VFD anymore, they just use the equipment and skills. I always did wonder why the baud parents were never mentioned as having eye tattoos..
