In the tenth book, Lemony mentioned something about the brave volenteer who threw to sugar bowl out the window to keep it from burning when the headquarters burned. The name was Ike!! josephine's husband! And it had to be recent, because the headquarters just burned. So doesn't that mean Ike is alive? Coincidence? I DON'T THINK SO!!

No life lives for ever, dead men, rivers and seas...seems as though it could be a message to Josiephine...
But yes, good...

Yeah, it does. But how would Ike be alive if the leeches killed him?

Maybe he faked his death to throw Olaf off his trail, because he had important VFD business to take care of.

That's a possibility, but back then, Olaf was a member of VFD. So I don't think Olaf would be on his trail. And how would Ike fake his death when Josephine was with him when he died, and saw him die???

How do you know the volunteer's name was Ike? I was under the impression that LS was naming brave volunteers, and the one with the sugar bowl wasn't the same person as Ike. Post the quote, please.

Hm..I recall it saying "and the brave volunteer, who managed to throw the sugar bowl into the Stricken Stream away from the fire" or something to that extent. I just searched through my copy of TSS for it, but I couldn't find it.

We are on topic. I'm stating that it didn't say Ike. If you give me the page number and quote, I'll believe you. I remember it as saying 'the brave volunteer who threw it', not Ike.

I also remember it to be "the brave volunteer"
I don't think it was Snicket, as he is always on the run, and he probably would have said that it was him.
