Some people think that the Stricken Stream will end up at Lake Lachrymose. It won't.
Go to page 150 in LSUA, the one with the map. Look near the top left hand corner. It says "To the Hinter Lands". That's near the Mortmain Mountains.
Now, lookright at the bottom: Lake Lachrymose! You see? How can the Stricken Stream travel that far?
Discuss.

I think you are right. It is hardly likely that the Stricken Stream leads all the way to Lake Lacrymose. But I do think it leads to Briny Beach.

I have a theory that the Grim river houses the grotto. And that it is one of the tributaries. As I don't have the book at hand, I can't remember where the Grim river leads. But I'm sure that the other tributary leads to Briney Beach.

Good observation on the Grim River. By the way, I think "grim river" is a term for the river Styx at the edge of the underworld. And even the weariest river winds somewhere safe to sea, so the children will end up in the grotto.

so I think the stream may be fairly long.. long enough to reach that hotel anyway. The hotel in the name doesnt mean it really is a hotel. it could just be a nickname for the place. And is Hotel Denounment on the LSUA? I dunno cause I dont have it...

The hotel isn't really a hotel just a nickname for a place that is what? You think the hotel is actually just a VFD nickname for the grim grotto? The hotel isn't on the LSUA map.. it may be casually mentioned (not by name just by "hotel") in the books/LSUA but I can't remember. I think it is a fancy Frenchy hotel, hence the name Denouement. Perhaps the submarine is part of it somehow. People will pay a lot to sleep in a submarine for a few nights because it's cool. I don't think the hotel is mentioned before TSS. If the map was indeed designed by that cow-suited henchman., it makes sense that the hotel was not on it. This must have been before Olaf and Co. knew of the last safe place, possibly because other places were still safe for the true VFD. Can we tell when cow-man wrote that letter? It was after TRR, that's for sure.

I'm still sticking with my underwater hotel in Florida. I don't know what it's called, I just know they mentioned it on the Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego cartoon.
What does denoument mean?

Oh, I forgot to quote the part that is in parenthesis, which says it would be located in the city right, and thats why I said that because if it wasnt really a hotel it didnt have to be located in the city. I dont know, that was a confusing post of mine...

hmm i think that.. the hotel D. is a group of hotels in one spot with like, The Eleckra hotel, the 'weird queer hotel' and some others? maybe the submarine is one like tocuna said..
