I just noticed this last night while reading TSS.On page 157 of TSS,there is a picture of Quigley holding up a picture of the Baudelaires at Damolces Dock.If you zoom in on the cliff on the background, you can see that Aunt Josephine's house is missing.

That is interesting, but I suspect that in fact the house was obscured by fog, or just outside the frame. I'll have to look in my copy of TSS when I get home.

I'm comparing the TSS photo to the first picture in TWW. They show nearly the same scene, but at different angles. Quigley's photo was taken from the side of the dock, while the illustration in TWW is a view from just off the dock's corner. Hence, Josephine's house would be somewhere to the left of the photo's frame.

The photograph was taken at the time the Baudelaires first arrived at Lake Lachrymose, hence the bag of peppermints. It seems that the photographer, whom I think was K Snicket, was off to the side of the dock, possibly in a boat or even in the water. The lengths that the Snicket siblings will go to for Baudelaire case information...

The lengths that the Snicket siblings will go to for Baudelaire case information... Yes, I always wonder how the Snicket sibling know the exact things the Bauds say and exactly what they do every second of every day... I know it's fiction, but still...I'm the sort of person who over-analyzes everything.

Yes, how does Lemony know exactly what the Bauds say? That seemed really odd to me. And he knows what they are thinking as well. Peculiar....
